Dude has 5 abs the entire year, and I love Jay as a coach but that is an extremely stupid move. I have no idea how you could possibly justify that move

R/L matchup and significant more power down 4

I don’t think you were going to find a lot of right answers in the 9th today

Why not Larson though?

Being down 4 made it even worse. Him hitting a home run instead of a single or double does not benefit LSU at all.

Beck can’t hit a 4 run home run with one person on base. Need guys on base to have a comeback, and you replace the guy with a .370 ba vs sec pitching

Already PH earlier. I’m not a fan of the move, but I can definitely see why he’d want a lefty. That pitcher made our righties look silly.

Larson had already pinch hit.

Trust the coach. Jay does stuff for a reason and knows a hell of a lot more about baseball than any of us

He 100% knows more baseball than me. I know enough about baseball to know that the decision to pinch hit Beck for Stanfield made absolutely no sense though.

How is home run in that situation better than a double? Please enlighten me.

He threw a lot of guys a bone this weekend. Seemed to be a theme. He is clearly trying to send a message to the under performers

The reason he did it has been given. If you don't agree that's fine ,he didn't think that the matchup was good for Stanfield, obviously.

He's not trying to lose.

Does he do it if we're still in a 2 run game going into the bottom of the 9th and brown gets us two 1 run and standing on 3rd

There is no situation in the sport of baseball where a Double scores more than a HR

you know what’s better than a runner in scoring position?

runs

It was all about the righty/lefty matchup nothing more nothing less.

What’s reason? I legitimately haven’t seen it.

Well obviously. I’m not claiming that.

Down 3

With 1 on base.

Power not really coming into play there friend.

would a 2 run homer not help? just asking

and it didn’t work out so I am not saying it’s a great move but there is obvious logic there.

I am dead serious.

You can argue we’re more likely to get a hit with stanfield but you can’t make a series argument that a Home Run isn’t better than a double.
