I can’t tell if this meme is racist or trying to be critical of racists?

It’s the truth. It isn’t racist to simply observe overwhelming stats.

Seems like it’s simply trying to be factual. If those facts hurt some peoples feelings, that’s their problem. Doesn’t change the facts though. The funny thing about facts is they don’t care about feelings.

The problem with the meme is that you finally move out of Baton Rouge to a nice suburb in Texas

And Baton Rouge comes to you

It’s hilarious to see things go full circle.

Schools turn to shite, stores close, people move.
Great schools, new shopping centers, property values skyrocket.
Developers slam in apartments and multi-family housing.
Schools turn to shite, stores close, people move.
Do that a couple times until you’ve reached 50 miles… and then people start fixing up old crackhouses and create new trendy in-town villages.

Rinse. Repeat.

Well, as a Katrina evacuee myself I take great offense to that.

Plus, Houston was having a lot of problems before Katrina, and it’s just easier to blame the outsiders.

This should have killed the colorblind narrative a long time ago then.

Well I lived here before during and after and I can tell you that there was a noticeable difference immediately in the neighborhoods that the refugees settled in and an ongoing issue in the parts of town those neighborhoods were in

but I woulda taken you in

I offered a room to lester earl and meant it

Although it probably was for the best

Same for Jxn, MS. It was already on the way down, but Katrina certainly hastened the timeline.

One of the steps you listed is driven by government mandate.

I’m sure the refugees were put in the best places that Houston could offer

Ackshully - my black friends that were placed in Houston (and a few that went to Atlanta) were back in NOLA within 5 years

If you hate BR so much why didn’t you move back to Nola?

It is interesting that Nola peeps made a couple of other cities worse then flushed a golden opportunity down the drain and went back to the same ole New Orleans

I know people that very happily drive from the boot hill of Missouri to work in Memphis just so they can avoid the "residents".
