Current US Ryder cup team isn’t very inspiring

Obviously Bryson is a 100% lock to take away one of those names and I would think as long as Brooks starts to show some form in majors he also replaces a name, but man that’s a grim looking perspective as of now. Maybe if Reed stays hot at majors you add him too

ETA: frick. Just saw Bryson is already included

Reed would ruin the team dynamic.

You don’t take Reed unless you have too. He hasn’t actually been that great in Ryder cups outside of singles his last time through. He bitched about pairings publicly then went 0-2

But looking at the current roster it would possibly be worth the risk if he keeps up his good play in majors

Oof, that’s a very boring team. Really ashame considering bethpage could be a wild atmosphere with the right guys in place.

I assume guys like Cantlay, Clark, and Zalatoris will put themselves in contention. Then you get into the Speith, Koepka, finau crowd.

Maybe Homa and Burns get it going as well. Still plenty time.

Seems like he would be a terrible course fit for Bethpage.

It’s crazy after whistling straights it seemed like the US was going to have a team full of young bombers and the euros were going to be old and short. That would have been a great fit for Bethpage.

Now with guys like the Hojgaard twins (young), Rory (long) and Aberg (both), they might have the better fits for the course.

Pat reed will not be on the team. Harmen absolutely needs to be on the team. Berger has a good chance to make it. I think Keegan should think about calling his own number.

Sure, let's ride JJ Spaun to Ryder Cup victory

Jordan Speith and Patrick Reed had won 7.5 points in 3 team events (2 Ryder Cups and 1 President's Cup) and then Speith cried to Captain Jim Furyk that he wanted to play with his butt buddy Justin Thomas. Maybe it was Speith who was the cancer. I know this, I'd take Reed over Speith in a heartbeat for the 2025 American team.

Everyone hates Reed. Seems unfair to blame Spieth, one of the only people willing to play with him for 2 Ryder cups

Do you want to win or look pretty? Top 6 have been solid, JT and Cantlay are easy captains picks.

I wouldn’t touch Brooks or Reed for the team. Speith either, he’s way too inconsistent.

Me too. He should have been on it last time.

Reed is also a terrible fit at Bethpage.

I am hoping one or multiple of the young guns gets really hot this summer and forces their way in. That'd probably be Bhatia, Dunlap, Clanton, Thorbjornsen, etc. Otherwise, that list is kind of bleak.

Edit: I saw Berger up above. He needs to be on the short list right now. If Brooks shows any form in the majors at all, he needs to be considered as well.

Looking again, that list isn't totally terrible. That's seven of the top twelve right now in Datagolf. Pretty big drop down after the top seven, though. That's where you go with a combination of A) course fit (exit stage right, Reed), B) how hot a guy is going into the event, C) teammate quality (now exit stage left, Reed), and D) Ryder Cup experience. Harris English fits a good bit of that, as does Berger, as does Koepka. JJ Spaun probably would deserve at nod at this point - he is playing well and is 7th SG T2G this year; he can stripe the shite out of his irons which tends to play well at Ryder Cups. If Keegan weren't captain, he would almost certainly be on the short list right now.

That roster really kind of looks like a lot of European rosters over the years : 6 - 8 real high end horses that you ride 4 - 5 matches each then a lot of bleh after that that you strategically play hoping they can snatch a half point here or a point there.

I haven't given it a lot of thought but please tell me why Harman has to be on the team. I don't see what he brings other than 100 waggles before every shot. And please don't say bc he won in San Antonio.

I know that Reed won't be picked. I understand that.

But that doesn't mean that he shouldn't be picked. Maybe he's not a fit for Bethpage but you know who else hates Reed, the Euro team because he would be a pain for them to go against.

Do you think Michael Jordan hung out with Dennis Rodman? I don't think he did. But MJ knew what Rodman brought to the team and he spoke up for Rodman whenever he was in hot water with the organization. MJ wanted to win more than anything else and that meant putting up with a nuisance of a team mate who would perform the job when needed.

Do they monitor the crowd for knuckleheads who try to disrupt the players swing with sudden noises and movement?

I’ve been to several Masters rounds and I never once thought if I yell “Miss it!l” during their transition that that would be acceptable.

Acknowledging good play seems appropriate. Celebrating a great shot seems appropriate.

What actions are over the line?

Hope Akshay turns it on this season and makes the team. Might not be ready for a Ryder Cup this year, but he will get there at some point.

Sam is going to have to put it into another gear .
His scorecards lately look like a Christmas tree .

Top 2 are awesome. Colin and Bryson are very solid. Nosedive after that.
