How bad does it get if the SCOTUS allows Trump to fire Jerome Powell, ending the independence of the Fed. He will try to do it. It is pure market Armageddon?

Where was that independence when Powell was carrying Biden's water saying that the inflation was transitory? Give me a break, only one party is ever held to these rules and it isn't the democrats.

Not sure how they would let him, you basically only have these options to remove a Fed Chair

Proven misconduct
Neglect of duty
Legal or ethical violations

His term is up in 2026, so he will be gone soon enough.

The Fed screwing up inflation is the biggest thing that doomed Biden’s presidency. The policies under his leadership were a massive gift to the GOP

So you believe this current Fed is acting directly with the President and his administration (e.g., it isn’t independent)?

Based on his firing of other independent heads that is now going to the supreme court, those reasons do not seem like they have to be followed anymore. It will come down to SCOTUS

All true, but irrelevant The question is: In the current market environment, what do you think will happen if SCOTUS gives Trump the power to replace Powell right now? How do you think the stock market will respond to that? Be honest.

End the Fed
doesn’t mean get rid of the person who happens to be in charge if it at the moment, it means eliminate it completely as an institution.

We will no longer borrow money from a central bank which is allowed to print money from thin air (inflationary) and set rates arbitrarily.

Rate cuts will happen this year, likely 2, possibly 3. Everything will pump through the end of year and we'll likely go in recession by mid-26.

This is all political posturing. Like the poster above said, what happens if Powell is removed? Say goodbye to any economic theory you know today, sentiment will tank and look out below.

While the fed could've acted sooner, it seems like they got inflation under control rather quickly without causing a recession.

It was Biden's policy of continuing to pump cash into the economy that made inflation as persistent as it's been.

From a historical perspective, inflation really wasn't as bad as people were crying about during Biden's term, it only averaged out to be about 5% per year. While high for current standards, compared the 8.3% per year for Nixon's second 'term', for example, it was manageable, and not much more than Bush I's 4.2% per year.
