All he’s doing is making SEC teams plan for it. Any time a runner is on 3rd, they better have their corner infielders on the grass and the pitcher has to account for the base runner. Who cares if he screws it up against Nichols, it’s all about giving our opponents as many things to think about as possible.

Ok It didn't work. I get it. Jay would've preferred it work no doubt. But it didn't. So, its now at least a threat to do it and must be respected, plus experience gained in the attempt. Not all negatives. Mid week is great time to work it.

This and it's practice for when it counts. I think Brown showed Jay that if he has a man on third with one out in the bottom of the ninth, he should let him swing away or bring in a pinch hitter.

Jay understands the team he has this year, and the likelihood that they will need to execute small ball in order to go all the way. If we need one of those squeezes to win an elimination game we will all be glad of the practice we got in live games that didn’t really matter.
