Lol. Trump grabbed them by the pussy. You need the US, we don't need you. Quit fricking us up the arse and everyone will be in good shape again.
If not. frick you. We'll be fine either way. Your country won't.

I can’t tell if the markets matter or not around here.

It’s amazing how hypocritical those bastards are.

I think the last two days of the market was premature. We will know more in a few hours when they open.

Japan just halted trading on their market.

Markets matter for the short term investors. If a dividend stock usually yields 5%, and the expected dividend drops 20%, then the price will drop 20%. The long term investors will see that as a buying opportunity and will profit both dividends and price increase.

You must be stupid if you don't see the point of the poster's comment.
Do markets only matter to us?

The majority of the board says the US stock market is irrelevant and not a measure of the economy now, but now we’re using foreign markets to prove that the tariffs are working?

But are they? BE HONEST.

They only matter if Trump tells them they matter. There’s no independent critical thought here.

Whatever your stance is, the world economy isn't the olympics. It's entirely possible for the entire world to go into an extended economic dark age if free trade is stifled to a certain point.
The rest of the world needs us in a big way, but you're sorely mistaken if you don't think we also need them as well, otherwise we'll just be king of shite mountain and life/prosperity will be noticeably worse in this country than it is today.
I'm not saying we're at or close to that point yet, but it's not impossible with this isolationist mindset.

They don't care

They may not even notice, because it would probably be like the boiling frog and not some overnight effect.

Governments don’t trade, people do. This idea that we have to have “fair” trade is nonsense. People only trade with others if they think they’re getting a good deal.

No, which is why I'm okay with finding ways to limit or get rid of these including actual well-planned reciprocal tariffs of our own, but this rollout has at the very least come off as nonsensical, disorganized, and far more extreme than was ever communicated. Trump appears to have used a chainsaw to slice some bread and is likely to be doing more harm than good at this point.
It's still up the air if it will all work out and hopefully it will, but Trump needs to be careful moving forward as man who often reacts and speaks before thinking, for better or worse.
Regardless, the whole we don't need nobody attitude is straight idiotic and not much different than a company ostracizing and turning away their customers.
