How would an all star team of college players, any division, taken from the 2025 season complete against a random MLB team- say The St. Louis Cardinals- in a three game series?

Supposedly, college baseball is on par with AA play so my gut says a college all star team would steal at least one game and be competitive overall.

In a three game series with the Cards, I would say a college All-Star team has a 90 % chance of being swept, a 7 % chance of taking one game, and a 3 % chance of another outcome (or rain).

SEC baseball isn’t even on par with AA, let alone all of college baseball.

The White Sox would sweep every time.

You see community colleges beating MLB teams in spring training, definitely not out of the realm of possibility that the college team could win a game.

This is the problem with any of these hypotheticals. If the scenario is “an exhibition game,” of course any pro team can play scrubs, or jack around, or both. I’m taking this hypothetical as “what would happen if a college All-Star team played the St. Louis Cardinals (starters and 1-2-3 rotation) in a three game set that mattered?”

No clue how '25 would do, don't think they have the arms. '23 could do it, though.

Do you get to pitch the same guys more than once? If you get rest days and can send one pitcher out there twice, the 2023 college all star team beats a bottom of the league MLB team 2/3 with ease.

In 23, you could run out a rotation of:

1. Skenes
2. Lowder
3. Walters

Lineup of:

1. Crews RF
2. Caglione LF
3. Langord CF
4. Tommy White 3B
5. Nolan Schanuel 1B
6. Jacob Wilson SS
7. Nick Kurtz DH
8. Christian Moore 2B
9. Kyle Teel C

People will say what they want but that team takes 2/3 from the worst team in the MLB.

This can only really happen in baseball and a very select few basketball scenarios.

i mean any team can take 2 out of three from any in baseball. a AA team could take a random 2 out of 3 from the white sox or rockies this year

Dylan crews had an OPS of .596 in double A in 2023 yet you think he’s going to hit major league pitching that same year?

Tommy white had an ops of .602 last year in single A

Paul skenes couldn’t make it out of the first inning the first time he pitched in AA in 2023.

Yet you think that they will take 2/3

After a full year of college baseball, then a month off. Like 6 months later he was a top 2 pitcher in baseball. Skenes/Lowder are taking 2/3 from the 50 win 2023 Oakland A's, yes.

Exactly my point. Wasn't that the question asked?

Betting on 2 complete games with guys who got roughed up their first experience in pro ball.

2024 performance in the MLB with MLB coaching pitch selection development spring training etc ain’t the same thing bud.

Plus they still have to score runs.

That ain’t happening against an MLB staff.

They could randomly win games

But if you play 100 times they might win 10-15.

Not complete games. You can find 3-5 innings out of the rest of an "NCAA All Star team" with Burns, Dollander, Hagan Smith, Hartle, Walters, etc.

LSU would compete against the Zephyrs with midweek pitchers in the 2000s.

2023 was one of the most loaded college baseball seasons of the last decade. They'd be playing against one of the worst MLB teams in the last 50 years.

i think if you boiled it down to three games, two isnt impossible

but i would bet the under on 7 wins for the whole year
