Chatter ramping up that a few stars may press for trades this offseason, including Morant, Sabonis and Maxey.

Of those three would you trade Zion straight up for any of them? If not, what else would you need? Lastly, do you think the Grizzlies, Kings or 76ers would take Z in exchange for their star player?

Frankly, we need a reset, not an aging pseudo-star.

You trade for those guys to pair WiTH Zion...

If we are trading Zion then you take:

Brandon Miller/ Miles Bridges/ multiple 1sts
Or
Jabari Smith/ Cam Whitmore/ Eason/ multiple 1sts

In reality we should only have (2) options:

Option 1: Trade Zion ASAP

Option 2: Trade (3) 1st 26'/ 27'/ 28' and find a #2

We will have a top 5 pick and still have a pick in 27'.

We would have (7) on contracts for the next few years. Trey/ Herb/ Zion/ Karlo/ Missi/ Murray/ Top 5

So you essentially just need a #2, a pricey vet and a few cheap vets to make that team very good.

I’m more interested in trade 1 because “When Zion is healthy” has been so fleeting it would be mortgaging our future on an extreme health risk.

Sucks because when he plays he is extremely good but one of the best abilities is availability.

this. Zion is too unreliable and it’s time to start a full rebuild.

I agree to an extent. I agree I'd probably rather an exciting reset with young players.

BUT if we trade 2-3 upcoming 1st for another star and draft a player at #4 then we still would have Herb/ Murray/ Trey/ Zion/ new star/ Missi/ Top 5 to trade.

In other words we could trade 2-3 1st and if it doesn't workout then still trade Zion or Herb and recover all of them. Its really not that big of a risk. Keeping people like CJ for longer is a way bigger risk/ loss

I don’t want to get too settled into plans until the lottery anyway.

We may be lagging for Flagg or we may be in 8th hoping that someone like KJ out of Illinois is a perfect fit for us because we missed on the top tier talent.

I just have trouble imagining a world where Charlotte trades Miller/Bridges/multiple 1st...for Zion.

I could see Charlotte trading LaMelo instead of Miller in a deal for Zion...would we be interested in that?

No. If we trade Zion, I want picks. Preferably a top 10 pick in this draft.

The perfect team is Brooklyn. If they fall out of the top 5, they might be star chasing. They could take a chance on Zion. Plus they are so far under we don't have to take back salary. They could give us 4 1sts in this draft, with one a top 10 pick..

With some lottery luck we could end up with a high pick that could be legit #2 to Zion or do a soft reset by trading Zion. So, just as an example:

High Pick + Trade:

Sabonis/Flagg/Murphy/Herb/CJ-(Murray)

or

Missi/Flagg/Murphy/Herb/Maxey

High Pick No Trade:

Missi/Zion/Trey/Herb/Harper

The real "X" factor is whether Zion will ask out. After six years, wouldn't come as complete shock if he did...

You have trouble imagining Charlotte pairing Lamelo with Zion (who is from North Carolina and played for Duke) but think that they would trade Lamelo?

......Geez

So the perfect trade would be Brooklyn who currently has a worse pick than Charlotte?

18 wins per season. That's what Zion has given us.

now this is hilarious if you think this

I can’t believe there’s people who aren’t willing to trade Zion even if the right offer comes because of how he played 20 games down the stretch. Definition of insanity

Actually...I think the Hornets are looking for a way to move LaMelo...even if it has nothing to do with Zion. And fwiw...I want NO part of LaMelo either. They want LaMelo GONE...
