Does anybody know how they determine who will announce our baseball games? Haven't seen Lyn Rollins past few games. Last night was maybe Blair (?) and a color commentator who was unbelievably boring and dry. I prefer Rollins. Sorry if obvious, but have no clue and I like Rollins.

ESPN. If they don’t send a tv crew, our radio crew does it. Hunt Palmer was filling in for Doug Thompson.

Depends if it’s a national game or ESPN+. Many times ESPN+ is just a local guy.

Rollins does a lot of midweek games. I doubt ESPN sends him for those and not an SEC game.

So how does it work? Does LSU “hire” the tv guys? SEC Network do it? ESPN?

Any idea?

We don’t have or haven’t had any home games on ESPN+.

The only game that we’ll play on ESPN+ will be the Nicholls game in Thibodeaux.

Hunt Palmer did the color last night and he was great. The game started at 9:00 pm so cut them a little slack.

So the SECN assigns the tv crews, but there isn’t enough money in the budget to do every game with tv guys so they have to do simulcasts with radio?

I can live with that. Just wondering.

From listening to Kendall Rodgers talk about their little tournament, it sounds like they are for hire and are booked well in advance. Rollins prob has preferences regarding lsu while the networks also have similar preferences based on location, schedule & money id assume. But just guessing

I believe if the game is on SEC Network, then the SEC Network assigns the crew and does the production. SEC Network+ games are up to the schools to produce. The SEC Network gives each school money to use to produce those games. I’m not sure how LSU decides. Could be that they use some of the money to hire a production company and get Lyn, Ben, or Ronnie for the broadcast, but they probably don’t get enough money to do that for all of the home games. The rest they use student interns for the production crew and simulcast with radio.

ESPN does not send a TV crew for SECN+ games. They contract the camera work and on-air talent through the school.

Lynn is a bonfide national treasure - Blair sounds like he is bloated and has a grade 3 sinus infection every other game. Like a fat Hawthorne.

Most of the games have been on SEC+, which I’ve watched time and time again on ESPN+.

No you didn’t. You watched the SECN+ on the ESPN app. ESPN+ is different from the SECN+. Wait till we play Nicholls in a couple of weeks and then come on here and read people bitching how they can’t get the game without paying for it

I pay for it though. I usually watch via Disney+ app on my phone at work honestly. ESPN is blocked.
