No, I've never been homeless.

I keep a sleeping bag, blankets, water, snacks, and fire starters in my SUV…as well as a comfy chair, and books. Since my spouse died, if I happen to be far from home and enjoying myself, or just not feel like driving anymore, I car camp.i live in the west, so there are huge amounts of public lands where one can freely camp.

The SW has huge turnoffs which are nice to car camp. I loved AZ, the four corners have so much to see and do.

Big time. Spent alot of summers in between getting my drivers license and getting my college degree, taking trips. US tenting road trips, Eurail pass, hostels and backpack. 30 yrs later my wife and I did Italy by train and small private places and loved it. Looking now for a good European 60 something rail trip for 2 weeks but can’t decide on an itinerary.

Haven't car camped in decades but in my 20's and 30's I was a freewheeling man. Work allowed me to go wherever I wanted within reason and I did, all over the world. I would lock up my apartment and shove off for a month or three, or take a cheap apartment somewhere else for a while. It was absolutely amazing.

I have a terrific family now so I try to stay home more than I'm on the road for work, but I take a week-long exploration 2-3 times per year. Last fall was through northern Ontario and it was awesome.

In my 50's and we still prefer tent camping. We have, however, invested in an inflatable bed to go inside that tent.

I camped and road tripped constantly in my teens and 20s. I lived on the road for 2 months straight one summer (detassled corn in Iowa while living in a tent for a month then road tripped our way to British Columbia and back).

I backpacked around Europe for 2 months on my own. My then gf/now wife and I backpacked in Australia for 2 months as well in our 20s (her family is from there originally, so we had rellies to stay with for some of it).

Not to mention all the road trips to see concerts over the years.

Now my youngest son races bikes all over the country and has got the bug for vagabonding. I'm a gearhead as well, so it's been fun building out his Tacoma with a camper shell and camping set up (powerbank and fridge along with other amenities).

Not since I was stationed at Ft Bragg in 1970. I mostly had duty at night and somedays would car camp about an hour away drive during the day. If I slept in the barracks, I risked having some idiot Lt working days "volunteer" me for pointless tasks.
