Why Can't You 'Report Junk/Spam' on Political Text Msgs?

Apple phone.
I can delete and report junk/spam on other, unwanted messages. But not political text messages.
Why? I didn’t sign up for this. I made ONE donation to a campaign like nine or ten years ago.
Rant over.

Just ignore it and move on with your life

I'm convinced "block and report junk" actually does the opposite.
It's more like "tell everyone I want more junk/spam calls and texts".

I’m not sure what you mean…I get them a few times a week and I can always report junk/spam on my iPhone.
I just swipe left, hit delete and it asks if I want to delete and report or simply delete.

Not on my political messages. They're weird too, some of them are somehow to me and from me with an additional number included. Like a group text.

You can on iPhone. I get them almost daily and delete and report as junk

If you are receiving these messages daily...does reporting them as junk really do anything?

Yeah….that’s definitely weird.
I just tried it and you’re right, you apparently can’t report a group message as spam. Learned something new today. I guess all you can do is block that individual number who sent it.
The part where they’re coming from you, no clue what’s going on there.

You can report political texts and calls as junk or spam, but federal law exempts political groups from having to adhere to the "do not call" registry that has essentially turned out to be as worthless as tits on a boar anyway. The politicians always give themselves an out.

The ones I often get are getting past the ability to block/report.. I think by attaching their number to a spoof of mine and creating a group text. I'd take a screenshot but I have no idea how to post such a thing.

If you are not in my contacts, then you can not text or call me.

Text them back and ask why a poor, like yourself, is being asked for a donation to a millionaire?

Send a message to “spam.”
Copy and paste the spam message you got in a new message to 7726. It’ll reply asking for the phone number and you copy and paste the number it came from.
Since I started making some effort to do this, my spam has seriously diminished. I don’t know why or how, but it’s run by the phone companies so somehow they’re doing something.

Probably because your carrier sold your number to those groups.
