Its over 70 billion now, and the IRS even says its about 25% fraud so more like 75%.
I read a story about how someone will go to a factory where illegals work and offer to get them some money back on taxes using the "stolen" SS number they used to e-verify (wink, wink). They then fill out a return and have the refund come to their office, when the illegal signs over the check they give them a 100, 200 bucks.
The IRS caught one fella because 25 checks were sent to the same address.....in Tijuana

They need a vetting process for those claiming. People are allowing friends to use their kids to claim the earned tax credit. Should have to prove they are supporting the kids they are claiming.

The only tax Americans should pay is at the cash register.

I have had peeps approach me asking if I wanted to 'buy' some kids, of course we would split it 40/60 THEIR way.
Of course, I told them 'no way in hades'.

The “earned” income tax credit is the most evil component of the whole tax system

This article is from 2011. I don't know if this loophole has been closed by now but this type of thing has been talked about for years, with the theft of social security numbers and gaming the system.
On June 9, 2000, a “Chief Counsel Advice” was published in the name of “Mary Oppenheimer, Acting Assistant Chief Counsel (Employee Benefits)”, though it was signed by “Mark Schwimmer, Senior Technician Reviewer”. This document advises IRS employees that illegal aliens who are disqualified from receiving the EITC can retroactively receive EITC benefits for years worked without a valid Social Security number if, after receiving a valid Social Security number, they file an amended return for the previous years worked.
Thus, illegal aliens who obtain legal work authorization, either by qualifying for a work visa or by dispensation granted by Congress or the immigration authorities, and who then obtain a valid Social Security number, can claim the EITC for previous years worked without a Social Security number as long as such claims are not barred by a statute of limitations, generally within three years.
So, if they get a Social Security number that the IRS screens and determines is valid, they can go retroactive and get EITC for multiple years. This is an industry of fraud.

This is from Clay Higgins and he introduced a bill to stop this fraud:
Under current law, those with an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN), including illegal migrants, can receive Child Tax Credit (CTC) or Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) benefits. The Safeguarding American Workers’ Benefits Act would require those applying for the CTC or EITC to have legally immigrated to the United States and been issued a work-authorized Social Security Number. This legislation ensures that these tax credit benefits go to support legal, working adults and families. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) introduced companion legislation in the Senate.

I recently have been bombarded by emails addressed to "Albert" wanting me to verify my SS number. One was supposably from the SS office and the others where for loans. I am been deleting them without opening them.

She's useless for sure. She's scared Tate Reeves is going to run against her next year. I think he has his sights set on Wicker's seat, though. In 5 years.
