Many of these same “scientists” apparently don’t know the difference between a man and woman:

Trump administration cancels UAB’s $573,819 transgender pain sensitivity research grant from NIH …

Don’t cut off your tallywacker if you are pain sensitive. There. Now, write me a check for $500,000.

What's funny is, the grad students would gain big-time by NIH funds getting cut.

It would force pharma etc to do their own research.
Will result in kids getting real jobs. Not grad school and post docs in perpetuity.

Horse shite. Listen - fix one problem at a time. Big Pharma already gouges Americans. Add fixing Pharma to Trumps list and he'll get it done.

They worship “Science”, we worship the Lord and savior.

I know which side I’d rather be on.

The opposite actually. They wouldn’t continue to fund deadend research and nonsense.

Drug companies spend significantly more on marketing than R&D.
Cut marketing budget and apply it to R&D.

They wouldn't be hired by pharma without their degrees and experience.

Retractions, Walkouts Plague Science Journals Eager to Churn Out Research

Story by Nidhi Subbaraman

quote:

Signs of trouble are turning up at the biggest scientific journals and the publishers that host them.

In December, nearly every member of the editorial board of the pre-eminent Journal of Human Evolution walked out on Elsevier, the largest publisher of scientific papers, because of changes the staff said jeopardized the quality of the 53-year-old publication.

quote:

A couple of months earlier, in October, nearly two dozen scientists excoriated Scientific Reports, the largest individual journal, in an open letter that accused its publisher, Springer Nature, of failing to “protect the scientific literature from fraudulent and low quality” research.

quote:

And in the past two years, Web of Science, an influential index of scholarly literature, delisted at least four high-volume journals for not meeting quality standards and placed four more on hold while it investigates their work.

These are some of the latest signs of scientists’ mounting concern over the quality of research. Altogether, editors at nearly 40 journals have quit in the past decade over differences with their publishers, according to the website Retraction Watch.

... sorry to make the quotes so long ...

BUT

... you have to realize just how serious this is ...

it's what you call FAKE SCIENCE and the fact these so called "scientists " are pushing fake Science onto society at a rapid rate.

... WSJ was the only media covering this fact ...

Driving through UAB's campus EVERY week shows me how much money is being spent -- like a city within a city. It is unrecognizable from 5 years ago - and 5 years ago I said this about 10 years back.

Easily the largest employer in the state.-- That gravy train needs to stop

"Science" willingly went down the road of politicization and now it's paying the price.

That brings up a corollary question:

I want to know who is paying for the anti-Musk billboards that have been spouting up around Birmingham:

In fairness, the same could be said about the campuses of UA and AU.

One thing these schools all share in common? All have buildings named after our state’s humble public servant, former Senator Richard Shelby.

All 3 schools were likewise showered with huge personal gifts from the “generosity” of Shelby. How did Shelby make his fortune?

Few grants are actually being cut or eliminated. This is mostly about the “indirect costs” grants these universities have been scamming the government out of. Those parts of the grants have been reduced and they are screaming bloody murder. Tell them we’ll give the full amount back if a full, independent forensic audit shows it is proper. Watch them shut up with the quickness.

With funding pulled for the government wouldn’t it default to private? Ergo research that doesn’t merit funding (ie dead end research) goes away or atleast limited. Allowing markets and shareholders to expect a return on investment instead the bottomless pit of taxpayer dollars to study nonsense
