Anyone that connects in LHR with any other choice is a fool. Terminal 5 is a disaster, I'm sure, with all those outbound folks having to clear immigration to get back into the UK, for an unknown period of time, with no luggage.

I'm so worried about the new baggage control system they've got at Heathrow.

Ain't nothing wrong with LHR, I've done it from every possible direction: rental car pick up & turn ins, Cabs, Train to/from the City, and connected or started/stopped trips there.

EWR or JFK by far for me.

MIA only gets a pass because it's usually on the way to or from somewhere nice for me.

Maybe this is why Denver built their airport in Nebraska.

They had to go East from town for flat land. (Alright, maybe not THAT far East) It didn't hurt that it was also cheap too.

I'm supposed to take my first business trip to Germany tomorrow evening and of course it's through Heathrow. Mother fricker. Not looking like I'll make it.

Well, I'm spoiled at IAH, my connections were usually limited to NRT, FRA, or IST. EWR, JFK, ORD, just don't enter into the equation.

Nerd, why aren't you just flying into MUC or FRA instead? Catch a quick flight to IAH from DFW, and catch the LH or UA flight to either. I don't know how much status you'd be leaving behind from AA, but I doubt you'll regret it. AA/BA are consistently bitched about by the folks that have to fly back to the UK regularly.

Honestly, I take whoever work books for me. She looked at new flights and each were over 5k more than current price and latest I can get there is early Monday morning due to work commitments at the site I'm visiting in Hamburg. Cheap asses we are they aren't currently forking over for the new flights. The options she found so far went from DFW through Chicago then Dublin to Hamburg.

Sorry man, lol. Stuff like this is why people get scared off of international travel.
Old company tried to fly me from Japan to Germany to Houston, instead of the direct flight from Japan to Houston once ... to save less than $60. I found a way to game it so the flight I wanted was the only available selection :D

This is how I ended up with Heathrow. Everyone at work that travels to our site complains about Frankfurt. Of course my luck this shite happens.

I definitely have a lot to learn if they keep sending me over there.

The only thing memorable about Frankfurt is that free water is hard to find outside the lounges, and the bathrooms can be challenging to find. I'm Star Alliance, though, and I presume most of your colleagues are OneWorld (if you fly into an airport that is predominantly controlled by a rival alliance, your airline gets second class status.)

The one time I flew into a Skyteam controlled airport in Europe (AMS) our gate was so far in BFE it took close to 40 minutes to get to the gate from the runway.

Was in London with plans to fly back on the BA non-stop to MSY when we woke up to this news Friday. Ended up re-booking for Sat AM out of Newcastle via Amsterdam without issue.

See a lot of hating on London in this thread, but can tell you my wife and I found a whole lot of good there, the opposite of which was reality-checked when we got back to Atlanta then MSY.

While we enjoy a few liberties more, maybe?, somewhere along the way we got sloppy AF, apathetic about how we treat each other or our jobs, and now have....what we have. Yes it's home, but man, get out and see some other places sometime.

Luckily my flight ended up being not impacted by the issue at Heathrow. But that airport does suck. It was very cramped in our terminal and not getting your gate until the last minute was absurd.
