I know he said Schmidt was done with midweek games, but I think he needs to get back out there for 20-30 pitches. I don't really care who starts, just keep your main arms available for the weekend and let the next tier get some work in.

Not sure who starts, but I want to see Cooper Williams a bit. Dalton Beck, too. We need to get more LHP ready.

With the way he has been running Primeaux out there makes me think he's way ahead of the rest (outside of Ware). And with the way Primeaux has looked, I don't think we will depend on lefties very much.

I hope to see the following tonight: Schmidt, Noot, Mayers, Williams, Fontenot, and Beck

I think Schmidt could use an inning to get right.

Mayers and Noot should each get at least one inning but no more than 2.

Benge could probably use a little more work.

Beck and Williams could use some work.

Keep Evans, Cowan, Ware, and Rizy sidelined because they can be weekend only now. Keep Primeaux sidelined so his arm stays attached at the shoulder.

Get Dorsey some more work to see where he's at.

We're past the point in the season of trying to develop another starter. That hay is in the barn, anything more toward that will be sorted on the weekends. The mid weeks should be focused on sharpening guys up or finding additional weekend help. 1 or 2 inning appearances to get the most guys work as possible without burning any of them for Friday.

Honestly surprised he said Schmidt was done mid-week. He only pitched like 20 pitches over the whole weekend, figured he would give us an inning or two today.

Noot, Mayers, Williams, Benge, Dorsey, Rizy could all us some work today

Not sure if we're ever pitching Fontenot or Woods again but I'll throw their name in there as well

He said the extended outings mid week were done, but that was distorted and taken out of context by a lot of people.

Thought Mayers would have played more of a role when he decided to come here. Only pitched 4 innings this year and showed flashes of his freshman AA yr in one appearance and also flashes of his so. slump in the others. 7 Ks, 7 walks but still no hits allowed. I want to see him more midweek and be ready to come through big in a tight spot when needed postseason

I want to see the kid we got out of the portal from Bama before last year. I think his names woods or something similar. He had a couple of good outings leading up to the season starting.

I also saw Williams look really good once during the beginning of the year and I think he was bad the other time.

They won't start Mayers.
I want rizy to get some good work in

He has to cut out the free passes if he ever wants to see time on the weekend, otherwise he'll be limited to an inning or two at most during mid-week. Maybe in a blowout on the weekend he would pitch but you absolutely cannot throw a guy on the weekend who has given away 9 free passes in 4 innings thus far and every single time out there he consistently pretty much gives away 2-3 free passes in inning or less of work. He's just all over the place when he pitches

Mayers might have the best stuff on roster, but his control is also probably the worst on roster.

yeah I’m aware he’s erratic, don’t see him getting a start this season but had hoped and expected he’d be improved from last yr. I just like the path he’s taken and root for him since hes said he dreamed of playing for lsu when he was younger, got recruited to nicholls got freshman accolades and finally landed where he wanted but hasn’t developed like he needs yet to consistently play in the SEC.

If Jay hadn't gone on record saying Schmidt was done on Tuesdays I'd say Schmidt, but since he did, I'd like to see Noot get the nod and see if he can work 3 innings. Last outing was his best as a Tiger, and he's got starter stuff.

He didn't though.

"I think his days of throwing on any Tuesday are probably over for the rest of his career here."

This was said 5 days ago. Not sure what you're getting at; he can obviously rescind it and use Schmidt tonight but there's no denying this is what Jay Johnson said.

Texas' lineup is RH heavy. We shouldn't need a whole lot of LHP other than a few matchups. I want to see Beck and Williams for 2 innings as an audition for a matchup this weekend.

Otherwise, just piece the other outs together with Schmidt, Noot, Mayers, Dorsey, Woods, Fontenot.

I think Benge is going to be fine.

Not all of these pitchers can be rostered for Austin this weekend. Some need to earn it tonight.

Just because you put quotation marks around it doesn't mean that's what was said.

He said the extended outings in midweeks were done. Not that midweek appearances were off the table.
