Watching Celtics City Episode 2 - It Sucks

Will there ever be a show about Bill Russell that does not cover racism? I have never seen one ever. Somehow Birmingham people getting hit water from firehoses gets covered. Will there ever just be a basketball show about the guy? Really lame to reduce this guy to this cause.

Now they are covering MLK assassination. This whole story has just been homogenized into a bunch of liberal nonsense. Any truth or interesting basketball stories have been swallowed by this misguided narrative.

Nobody loves to pretend their past never happened like America.
If you can't understand that events like that shaped those players, hence shaped the sport, the fairy tale reality you live in must be nice. The man's history is entranched in the civil rights movement. He boycotted a playoff game after the MLK assassination. He boycotted a game while with the St Louis Hawks to protest discrimination when they were refused service at a coffee shop in Kentucky. It's part of the history of him, the game, and the country. Maybe get over yourself.

Sorry no disrespect intended to decent human beings. The basketball guys put the biscuit in the basket. They dont have a damn thing to do with people getting hosed down in the south. It is just nonsense.

Discussing the Celtics in the 60's without the ever present race issue would be like doing a doc on Ali without the discussion of race.
I do agree that sometimes it would be nice to watch a doc without Kobe's rape charges, Michael's gambling, Barkley's spitting/anger issues, or Lawrence Taylor's/Darryl Strawberry's drugs but you aren't going to get those because they are integral to the story.
