My cub cadet kicked the bucket after 9 years of loyal service. I’d like a zero turn because my cub mower was too slow and I don’t feel like taking 2+ hours just to cut. I have about an acre and a half. Was looking at Toro Timecutter but not sure what else I should be looking at. Don’t really want to buy from big box stores as they won’t help with repairs, maintenance etc. I’m on the northshore, willing to buy within an hour if the dealer is stellar. TIA

John Deere 130 class. My E120 has been great for 6 years so far.

Did you change the oil?

Not zero turn but Deere 300 series start around there and can be found used also. They hold their value pretty good and can do some things that zero turn can’t like on-the-fly height adjustment.

Every year I changed everything. Even the blades.

Bought a Toro Time Cutter from Tractor Supply 4+ years ago. No issues.
12 Months 0% Interest. Plenty of perks if you are a TSC customer.

I'm sure it's fine, but I'd never personally buy a mower with a stamped deck again.

I would stretch your budget just a little and look at a Hustler ZTR with a Kawasaki engine. Will cut your mowing time in half. All Hustlers have a welded deck, not stamped.

42" raptor X $4,099, $104/mo, 48 months 0 interest

Gautreaux's in BR and Gonzales

What size deck are you looking for? I have a feeling if you're looking for anything above 42", it'll be tough to stay in budget.

All the big brands should have one around that range for a 42. I think even tractor supply has the Bad Boys with a fabricated deck that run close to 3k. You can also finance it. Just look in your area that sells/maintains. Go sit on some and see what you like. Most have either a Kawi or Kohler motor. Other selling point for me is fabricated deck. F that stamped deck.

TS Bad Boy 42 with fab deck $3,599 but has a Briggs, I would not buy the Briggs over a Kohler or Kawi.

TS Cub Cadet 42 with Kawi, but stamped deck, $3,299.

$3,000 out the door is not in the OP's price range for what he wants. Pre-Covid, yeah these were $2,500 mowers.

I bought a Raptor Limited 42 Kawi a few years ago and they were a little cheaper then but I believe I paid $3,500 or so. Buy once, cry once.

The Quest series from ExMark has been great for me, fast enough, good cut and affordable. I have the 50, it has three blades, my neighbor has a slightly smaller version, and he has two blades. No issues and I knock out me 1.25 acres pretty quick.
