Renting a house on False River for a quick weekend trip in a couple of weeks. Taking my 80yo dad who hasn't been fishing in years but used to love it. Our plans right now are to just relax and wet a pole at the end of the pier at the house. Any other recommendations?

We caught a mess of catfish right off the dock a couple years ago.

That's what we'll probably do. Thanks.

You’ll be timing the catfish perfectly. Night crawlers on the bottom right off the pier will fill an ice chest. Monday through Thursday are the best due to less boat traffic. A block of velveeta cheese in a Tupperware container with several 1/4” holes drilled in sides, tied to a string and allowed to sink to bottom will have them in front of pier all day.

Don't know if it's in your budget, but Geaux Outdoors is located at The Sandbar and rents pontoons for around $450 a day.

Nightcrawlers around the dock pilings/shade lines is all you need to do to catch your body weight in catfish every few days. If you want some bream and catfish swap the worms for crickets that you can grab at Pablos in town.

Also, change your last name to Bergeron or D’Aquila before you go.
Them boys know where the brush piles are located.
They were killing the Friday Night Cookie Jar Tournaments all last year.
