Looking for books like the show 1888, 1923, or American Primeval. I guess like taming the West.

Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History

This. When I saw the American Primeval trailer, I at first thought it was the trailer for Empire of the Summer Moon (which supposedly has a movie coming soon). Exactly the level of grimdark I get from that book.
Cormac McCarthy books would be another option. Lonesome Dove as well.

The Lonesome Dove series.
Read in the order of the story line.
