I have a 36" drum fan that I barely use due to loudness of it. I bought it to have on patio when we have guest and have some airflow, but it's so loud, it's hard to have a conversation. It's like trying to talk in a crowded place. I'm not looking for no noise, but good solid fan that is lower on the noise. TIA

Get a belt driven one. Anything direct drive will be loud as hell. I have a 42” from Lowe’s and on low is barely noticeable, high is still way quieter than my 36” direct drive

2 of the 20 inch fans from Harbor Freight.

Moves good air and not super loud. If you don't like them take them back.

I want to get one of those swamp coolers. They aren’t loud and blow pretty cool air. I have the Home Depot special 36” drum fan and it’s so loud I can’t hear anything if it’s running.

Have a couple of these. They are great and pretty quiet. Installed them onto a swivel TV mount.

We have a few Lasko squirrel cage fans.

They move a good bit of air, easy to adjust direction, (relatively) quiet and have a couple outlets to a plug another one into to daisy chain, or for the kids to charge their magic light boxes.

I put two of these over my outdoor bar and they're great. Not as quiet as a ceiling fan, but you can easily have a conversation when they're on high. I keep them at medium. They move a good bit of air.

I've learned over the years that most quiet fans do not move much air.

Find an attic or warehouse fan and build a box for it with wheels. Will move a ton of air and be very quiet.

Same. We built out our patio in 2008 and bought a traditional fan. It was so loud that we returned it.

Next I looked at the Laskos in Sam's. A lady stopped and asked if I was going to buy one. I said I was considering it, and she went on an evangelical pitch about how great they were.

I thought she was crazy, but I have since found myself giving the same pitch to friends and neighbors, who have bought several. We have had the same pair going for 17 years.

They are very quiet and efficient air movers. I seldom need to turn them above level 1. Set them up so they blow at you from two different directions.

We paid about $60 back then. They are now $89.98. Get two.

I think we have 5.

Outside is where I prefer to be. A little breeze and shade and 95 degrees ain't so bad.

And you didn't mention how compact and portable they are.
