How lofty would this be? Praying Aaron listens to the original Silver Fox.

quote:

By all means, sign with them," Favre said on "The Will Cain Show" Tuesday. "They got a really good football team. They're loaded at pretty much every position. They made it to the playoffs last year. They got a tremendous fan base, much like the Packers. If you get the opportunity, that's a good place to win.

Mate, many people are unaware that the legendary quarterback and freedom fighter was already a Viking

The Mississippi welfare fund better prepare for what’s coming from rodgers in a few years if this keeps up

What am I missing with McCarthy? I’m not the biggest cfb fan anymore but the guy didn’t look like he’d be a very good pro in all the big games I watched him in.

They drafted him 8th overall last year so they seem to disagree with that assessment

Vikings does make sense for a Rodgers final swan song. Best place to actually attempt to make a run. Steelers are a close 2nd. He shouldn’t even take calls from Giants. Total waste of time there

No shite right? Fortunately for them nfl teams never reach for QBs in the first round.

My initial question remains for anyone who has actually watched him play a good bit and has anything of value to add.

Yeah I just mean it shouldn’t be surprising that they aren’t waiving the white flag on him after playing 8 minutes of preseason football

I know this isn't your point or the point of the guy you quoted, but it's not like Rodgers has very much longer in this league. Would probably be good for McCarthy to get a year or two behind Rodgers before starting. I think it makes sense for both sides

It would be so much fun. It really needs to happen. I will definitely have the Vikings as my #3 team behind our Saints and our Bengals

On the contrary, I think that’s exactly why you shouldn’t sign rodgers

McCarthy had something like 2000 less college snaps than Bo nix, and played in a small scale passing attack, and on top of that barely got a chance to even practice last year because of the injury. The one thing he needs is reps. And he’s in possibly the best surrounding system and talent to succeed as a young QB

If you sit him for another whole season you still have no better idea if he’s the franchise or not, and the time to assess that becomes very short, and if he has a Daniel jones level fluke season when he does take over, you may have to make a decision on whether to pay him off that small sample size or let him walk and don’t have enough of a resume to feel good about either option

I’m not sure you’re following my point there. Wilson had 2-3 years on the field that he showed how arse he was and the jets moved on.

I’m Not saying his draft stock matters to his performance or actual ability, just saying less than 12 months ago the Vikings looked at him and saw him as a franchise QB and took him in the top 10

He played preseason for like 3 days so there’s not really anything that could’ve happened between now and then outside of legal troubles of some sort that would’ve drastically changed their opinion of him coming into this season. They may be wrong, but it’s easy to see why they want to go with JJ McCarthy and clearly they see him in a different light as a prospect as most of us on this board do
