Just moved 200K in dry powder over to buy this dip, but definitely doesn't feel like the bottom yet.

When and where do you deploy?

Is that based off correction from the all time high or something else?

Fareplay, it's just been sitting on sidelines after getting out of a real estate investment (high yield savings account for the past month or so thankfully).

No reason not to go 25% at a time. Buy a little here buy a little next week, buy a little next month. That way you haven’t missed the market but didn’t miss the market either

Best time to buy, at least some, is often when you think the bottom is still to come.

10% correction is a buy level
20% is a buy more level
30% buy all you can

I do it a little different
10 percent.. wake up and plan
15 percent open positions on stocks I target.. just a very small amount on each .. watch
20 … start building slowly .. 25 build..
35 load…..
If below 35 find more cash load more..

I am ok with picking up stocks on the way down because I have proven that I am pitiful at moving quickly at bottom .. and will miss it and it will bounce back to fast causing me to miss it all because of my slowness..

It is a dollar cost average plan.. then three years latter you smile..

If the market does bounce back fully and this is a one week blip we’ll them it was like it did not happen anyway..

I know professional planner say do not dca and just move it and get it in the market .. but a little dca just makes me feel like I tried so I sleep better.

Tbh if it goes down 35% I think I’ll have bigger problems than finding which stocks to buy

Fwiw been through it six times .. and on top of that the lost decade from 2000-2010 of zero growth …

Hurt but was a solid time to dca.. and as they say it is not timing the market but time in the market.

When it does come back from a 35 percent drop it is not slow and steady .. it pops big chunks spread over months but action is in a sporadic few days.. if out of the market those few days on the rebound you miss most of the rebound.. do not be out of the market any days on the rebound if possible..you will not be able to time them.

I have been through pain to the “capitulation “ phase numerous times.. we have not gotten a wisp of those times yet.. and hopefully do not get them..

10% down - put half in.
20% down - put the other half in.
30% down - margin to the hilt.

50% down - take a HELOC on your house and load up.

Got my annual bonus last week. Phasing it into my portfolio in $15k/week increments every Friday over the next ~ 2 months.

If I were you, I’d go something similar.
