Too long to rest. BTW, HVL still playing at resurgent TCU.

I haven’t been following HVL since she transferred, but I watched their game yesterday. She had 20+ points and was player of the game. Did we misuse her here? What was the problem, because it looks like she is sure flourishing at TCU. I have to wonder if personalities caused her to leave.

She needed to go somewhere where she could be the top dog and be the one with the ball in her hands most of the time, taking the most shots. That wasn't going to happen at LSU.
Her point guard skills got better here, contrary to what most people say. I'd have loved to have her back, but I totally get why she left.

Is there any doubt we would have beaten Texas on Saturday had we had Flau'je and Morrow for the whole game?

I've seen VanLith play a few times in person this season, and she's much more in her element with this TCU team. With LSU she found herself having to defend quicker, more athletic point guards, And while she hustled her tail off to stay in front of them, she had defensive problems once conference games started. Plus, her ballhandling skills, though solid, again were an issue against the quick guards she encountered in the SEC.
She left so she could get back to playing her old game. I don't blame her. She played hard for LSU and we should be happy for her.
I don't think she'd ever be a starter in the WNBA. Her basketball future is probably in that new 3-on-3 league. (She played 3-on-3 in the Olympics and is very good at it).

HVL didn’t have the foot speed and athleticism to compete with the elite guards in the SEC. WBB in the SEC is an absolute meat grinder. She’s playing in a weaker league now, so she’s getting better results.

HVL was name Big 12 Player of the Year.

The Big12 in WBB is considerably behind the SEC and the Big10. It is easier to be a star in that league than in the SEC/Big10.

She came to LSU because she wanted to improve her draft stock at her WNBA expected position. Her choice, not necessarily Kim’s. She couldn’t hack it in the SEC at the point. She couldn’t compete with Mikayla, so she left. Was not expected to be drafted, so downgraded to B12 and back to off guard.
She did what’s best for her. This is not on Kim and the Tigers. I wish her luck.

People forget that HVL played with a nagging injury for a good portion of last season.

Big12 is a weak conference since TX and OK left. Competing against weaker teams. New teams they added are not good. Put TCU in SEC conference, team won't be as good, HVL won't be as good. SEC teams and players are superior to Big12. She is a big fish in Big12's small pond.
