The script for the1970 LOTR movie we thankfully never got.

Directed by John Boorman, and with an opening shot of J R.R Tolkien himself, writing away in a small cluttered office full of books...
(Tolkien never saw the script. I can only imagine he'd have rejected it, outright.
It's weird. Very weird. And only vaguely resembles the book or Peter Jackson's movie.
Hobbits eat trippy mushrooms. Humans (Big Folk) are of the belief that catching a Hobbit can lead to gaining valuable rewards - like Leprechauns?
Oh, and at one point Frodo and Galadriel bang. So there's that.

I like Boorman's movies, but that description sounds awful.
But Excalibur was awesome and it had titties and sex in it (using the props and costumes he'd put together for LOTR), so who knows?

I own Excalibur, and I loved his take on that story. Not sure it'd have worked for LOTR. Lotta homo innuendo and almost Frank Frazetta level imagery in Boorman's LOTR version.

Gandalf and Bilbo gazing into each other eyes at Bilbo's party, Boromir and Aragorn kiss, after kissing Arwen (who's 13 in this version) , and so on.

I’ve always wondered what immortal elf poon would be like.

Well, all you have to do is have some Lembas bread, and you'll find out!
In this version, eating Lembas bread allows the person to think of anything they can imagine, and it'll taste like that.
It's better than Willie Wonka!

Boorman was a strange dude, but made some very good films.
He even directed his own daughter's sex scenes in Excalibur, and cast her in the role knowing he would have to do so...
Fun fact, though: Much of the locations used on Excalibur were going to be part of Boorman's LOTR film, but it became apparent to everyone that his vision for Tolkien could not be filmed in live action with 1970s effects technology.

Oh, I thought you were talking about Excalibur.
I didn't read the script but if all of that stuff is in it, I'm glad he put those props to better use.

Other high(low) lights
- There is no battle of Helm's Deep.
- Ents? What Ents?
- Aragorn marries Eowyn. '
- Merry and Pippen don't travel back to the Shire with the rest of the Fellowship, but stay in Gondor, as servants to Aragorn and Eowyn.

Never knew about Boorman writing this one. Glad it didn't work out, if it helped us get Excalibur, or added to it in any way. With how great the music is in Excalibur, I wonder what we might have gotten for the Tolkien movie?
Is that in the script?

I've not read the whole 178 pages or so, but I'm guessing the score isn't included.
Boorman was drawing from Arthurian lore, which Tolkien emphatically stated that LOTR was NOT.
Glad he followed up with Excalibur though, which seems more in line with how he was envisioning this script.
*Howard Shore's LOTR original music was perfect. What worked well for Excalibur wouldn't have worked nearly as well.
