When the WNBA Player's Association in October 2024 opted out of its collective bargaining agreement with the league, the potential for a labor dispute—and possibly even a lockout—loomed.
That possibility became even more real after recent comments made by one of the league's premier players, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese. Reese, during an episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, said that she's heard that a player strike could occur if the league doesn't acquiesce to what the Player's Association wants.

"I need to be in the [players’ union] meetings because I’m hearing that if [the league] don’t give us what we want, we’re sitting out," Reese said.

Fellow WNBA player and Dallas Wings star Dijonai Carrington, who was a guest on Reese's show, agreed that a player strike is a "possibility."

Revenue sharing, as well as salaries, pensions, and child care and family planning benefits, are among the issues the players and league office will have to see eye-to-eye on to avoid a work stoppage.

Reese is a child that doesn’t understand how the real world works. They’ll never satisfy her unrealistic demands.

The quote in the picture doesn’t match the quote in the actual article you posted….

Actual quote

"I need to be in the [players’ union] meetings because I’m hearing that if [the league] don’t give us what we want, we’re sitting out," Reese said.

Picture quote

'IF Y'ALL DON'T GIVE US WHAT WE WANT, WE SITTING OUT”

Revenue sharing,

Do they know they’ll have to pay to play if that’s the case. Has the league ever made money?

So if the revenue is negative, does that mean the players have to come out of pocket with some cash ?

You don’t have friends on the left that post about it not being fair that Lebron makes millions while the WNBA players make peanuts?

Revenue has zero to do with expenses

The WNBA will never have negative revenue

No business in history has negative revenue

With revenue sharing the players would never ever owe money like you said

Easy enough for you?

Nah, you didn’t actually explain what revenue was. I did take your advice and look up the definition. Her comment is still dumb arse hell

There are a few NBA owners who are subsidizing the League and will likely take her up on her offer. Go play in the 3 on 3 league down in Miami and fold up the WNBA. You guys have made it. We don’t have to subsidize you anymore! You own your own league now.

Also hope the negotiations get contentious so we can have some of the financials leaked.

Her comment was simple and not dumb at all. She simply said she is hearing there maybe a sit out

The quote in the picture is fake news. She isn’t threatening anything. Couple that with the fact you and another poster thinks revenue can be negative and this thread is awesome

Considering that the WNBA has yet to turn a profit and they are a loss leader paid out of the NBA profit sharing, I wouldn’t threaten them with a good time.

Sorry, but asking for more money from a league that makes no money seems dumb as hell.

Ok

Asking for more money is normal. Thinking revenue can be negative is just plain dumb
