I wonder how we roll out the pitching for tonight.
Ware, Cowan, Dorsey, and probably Primeaux and Noot are burned.
Schmidt could get another mid week start since we're still a week away from SEC play.
Mayers hasn't seen action in a little while and if effective could go multiple innings.
Grant Fontenot hasn't thrown in a while, I know he warmed up last night.
Rizy, Benge, and Williams should be available.
I was a little worried when I started this post, but as I started listing out the options, I think we'll be just fine.
ETA: Kade Woods should be available as well.

Cliffs from Jay:
-Jay proud that the team put together a win after performing so poorly early on
-Excited to have an actual practice on Thursday since we didn't have one last week
-Dorsey looked great. Hasn't seen action because he was "down on the list" after having a rough Fall against LSU offense. He will get more opportunities
-Cowan and Evans impressed as well
-briefly addressed catching, especially first inning woes.
-Free bases were an issue that we couldn't minimize early on. Praised Cade's AB homer
-Proud of lineups ABs to fight back in the game

Probably start Schmidt and keep him limited again to where he can be available on Sunday.

Anyone know whats up with Dylan Thompson? Not saying he should be pitching a lot but strange he hasnt pitched once all season. He gives a different look, is he injured as well?

I agree on the different look. I haven't heard anything about an injury. He got a decent amount of work in the pre-season scrimmages. I'm also a little surprised we haven't seen him yet.

He could give them an inning or two tonight maybe. I’m with you, interested to see how they work it tonight.

Yeah he actually was one of the better pitchers in the fall, didnt get much work before the season started but not many guys did either (he threw 3.2 IP in the spring scrimmages).
Just strange to me with Guidry not pitching for so long they havent let Thompson even pitch in one of those blowout games (I guess we technically havent had one of those in a while now).

Jay also gave a shoutout to the NoDak St leadoff hitter. He's their starting shortstop this year but played mostly 2B last year as a freshman. He hit .333 against us in two games last year and had 2 steals. I feel like I remember him making some good defensive plays.
D1 Baseball had him ranked as the number 2 draft prospect in 2026 for the Summit League.

Also, today is Blaise Priester’s birthday. Good day to give him a start.

Without just coming out and asking, I’ll try and see if his dad will tell me anything. Honestly forgot he was on the team.

I’m interested to see if Jones can continue to stay composed and not start pressing bc the home run numbers aren’t there. He feels like a different hitter this year and without knowing the numbers it feels like his K% is down drastically.

Last week he like 6 balls over 111mph, just nothing got out the park for him. Dude is doing everything right at the plate, just not getting it over the wall. Feel like he leads the team in outs over 360 feet

You wonder if guys like this Jay adds to his "contact in offseason for transfer" list

K rate:
FR - 34%
SO - 25.8%
JR - 9.2%
While I don't have the preconference numbers at my disposal, it's hard to imagine that his Ks were less than 10% going into conference games last season.

Isn’t Guidry supposed to be avail this week? Jay saving him for weekend just to be certain?

Also add Lachenmayer to the list
(the freshman LHP)

Holy shite…obviously not sustainable with increased competition but wow. We were hoping for him to get in the 15-20% range or something weren’t we?

We’re gonna have to have some serious stuff go wrong before I worry about pitching depth…and Guidry hasn’t even gotten going yet. Best depth I’ve seen in ages. Of course SEC competition could expose some of it…we’ll see.

I’m driving what did he say about catching?
