It’s a shame that New Orleans wasn’t the birthplace of Mardi Gras. I can’t believe Mobile allowed for NOLA to steal the idea and take credit as if they invented it

I have pack of matches from the Monteleone that my grandfather saved from his trips to New Orleans back in the 40s.

What's crazy is the crowds look huge and they were barely throwing anything off floats.

i’d love to go back in time and walk down those streets to soak in the experience.

Does anyone know when flashing tits at Mardi Gras parades became a thing? Obviously in the early 1900s no woman was doing it. Maybe in the 60s when woman were doing the hippie, "burn bras" thing?

We don’t condone flashing in the birthplace of Mardi Gras. Mobile is trashy but not that trashy.

Also it’s called a median.

can’t believe Mobile allowed for NOLA

Mobile was the capital of Louisiana in 1703 when Nicholas Langlois started Mardi Gras. So it really never was started in Alabama.

That first picture taken on Canal is not early 1900s but sometime in the 1950s or 1960s. Note the Royal Castle hamburger chain sign and the attire of the non-costumed people in the crowd.
