There are several FB pages dedicated to this, but all claims/pay/backpay should be adjudicated NLT the end of March.
SSA recently put out a press release on this issue.

Starting the week of February 24, 2025, SSA is beginning to pay retroactive benefits and will increase monthly benefit payments to people whose benefits have been affected by the WEP and GPO
If a beneficiary is due retroactive benefits as a result of the Act, they will receive a one-time retroactive payment, deposited into the bank account SSA has on file, by the end of March. This retroactive payment will cover the increase in their benefit amount back to January 2024, the month when WEP and GPO no longer apply.
Social Security benefits are paid one month behind. Most affected beneficiaries will begin receiving their new monthly benefit amount in April 2025.

This affects my dad and he hasn't received anything yet.

Haven’t received it yet, but today my SS account went from Suspended to Active and there is a letter under the verification link outlining how much I will get and deposits will be made the second Wednesday of each month. I will also get the retroactive active amount from January 2024. I am eligible through my husband’s account. I worked 33 years for the State.

You leeches that want free money are absolute scum. We need to tighten our belts and get our fiscal house in order. Hopefully DOGE undoes this crap.

These people paid into SS but have never received a benefit.
Nobody is getting anything they didn’t pay for! If they didn’t pay SS they don’t get it.
Why should they not receive the SS benefit they paid for?

Either a troll or a douche. Likely both.

My wife had a career prior to going to work at LSU.
We're still not up to speed whether or how much (if any) retroactive SS she will receive.

Mine still shows Suspended.

Did you pay into SS at some point or are they just giving it to those who were not able participate bc state worker or whatever? A friend’s spouse didn’t participate bc she used the state retirement and came out ahead.

Relative is a retired teacher. Her spousal claim is being processed with her account now active with dates of first payment and amount provided. Online account should reflect where a claimant stands after the claim is filed.

When you try and log into your SSA.gov account it shows suspended?

My husband paid in all of his working life. He has been receiving it since he was eligible. I am eligible as his spouse, but wasn’t getting anything because I have my state retirement. I paid in some but not much from student jobs when I was in college. I am now eligible as his spouse. It’s not a fortune, around $300/mo.
This is not anything new. Spouses became eligible for Social Security benefits in 1939 as part of the Social Security Amendments. My mother received them from my dad’s SS.

Thanks for explaining. I’d never heard of spousal benefit until a friend’s wife got it and she didn’t work. So told him that didn’t seem right. But he said it’s bc it’s based on spouse giving up job or not working to stay home and raise kids. I guess my daughter’s spouse (a 1st responder) will be eligible for this benefit one day being a parish employee and has parish retirement vs SS. She pays into SS.

You can kiss my arsenal you jackass... I paid into SS for over 60 quarters while doing summer and second jobs while teaching. I didn't pay in so you leech can make full benefit and I get nothing. I don't deserve what full timers paid in, but I deserve the full benefit based on what I paid in, not 30%.
