The combat is fun and the game is beautiful. There is way too much fricking talking.

You having any performance issues? I was watching a Twitch stream earlier and everyone was complaining about how poor the optimization was across PCs and consoles.

Steam reviews are mixed and I swear every single one of them mention optimization.

I just recently got back into World so I'll hold off on this.

I've never played a MH game but got World for free via the PlayStation Plus Collection, and I'm wondering whether it'd be a mistake to choose the Heavy Bowgun as a MH noob?

I play on PS5 and it can be pretty choppy at times. The cutscenes and environment are gorgeous but it will benefit from an update.

They have a training ground where you can practice every weapon and learn the combos, but dang some of it is just confusing, and I feel it's the nintendo thing I feel every time where it's simply the button scheme is counter intuitive to any other game. I keep hitting the wrong thing and unequipping my weapon and other things like that.

For simplicity, I think the easiest one to learn is the basic bow. Only 1 or 2 combos to learn which are pretty simple, and it has a charge up dragon shot that can do a lot of damage if you time it right.

World was my first MH as well, and it was a steep learning curve. Lots of little things to learn.

Just try different ones and play what feels fun to you. Doesn’t take much at all to just build a new one and see how it is

Optimization is poor. I have a high end PC and I’m not having too many issues, but I still have some. A few crashes and pixelated main character at times. Otherwise, its smooth and I’m getting good fps. Unsure what a normal pc would look like running this. IMO, they really dropped the ball in this regard.

Gameplay is fantastic. If you’ve played MH before so far it feels pretty easy, even the first skill check boss. I’m sure they’ll ramp it up like they did in World (World felt harder this many hrs in fwiw)

Okay it ramped the frick up. This is awesome

Dont use guardian armor/weapons at the start. Crafting new gear and making upgrades is part of the fun post hunt.

Try out the dual blades. Sit right on them and spin to win.

I’m level 65, I have the best armor and weapon you can get in the game and I still want to play lol. It’s addictive and very fun.
