I mean, on paper, Gayle is a fantastic owner.
She does a lot of things you would want. She's willing to write checks to restructure deals when need be. She lets her football people make the football decisions. Doesn't have to be in the spotlight all the time like Jerry.
The only problem with Gayle is, ironically, that she allows the football people to make the football decision and can't see that Mickey has become a problem. If she could ever get past the ridiculous job security Loomis has enjoyed, we would be alright.

He's not wrong though, sorry.
Gayle is an EXCELLENT owner from a player and executive perspective. She writes checks, takes good care of everyone, and gets the frick out of the way.
She has just let Loomis run the show unabated for too long. Its not her fault she is not a football person. But the next two years she has got to hire some outside consultants that have a clearer view of what is going on, and make a change if one is needed.

Yes he is sorry. Mickey proved to be the exact gm we needed for this hiring cycle. Mickey is not nearly the problem he’s made out to be. He went in for trying to help a coach win twice. Big deal. Blame the previous coaches for their failures.

She could be worse. Imagine if she was all the things she is but also demanded to make football decisions too. At least she made Mickey fire Dennis.

Mickey wanted to keep Dennis Allen lol

Chad, he drastically mishandled the end of the Brees era and the past few years. Its not really even a question at this point, it speaks for itself.
He needed to change philosophies and he was incapable of it.
Let's see if he's capable of it this offseason. A seemingly good HC hire doesn't change what has happened.

Lol wut? The Saints job was unappealing to a lot of coaches because of Mickey and his inability to see the window was closed post Brees. I’m not mad that Loomis went all in when he had Brees. He was just stubborn and hard headed when it was done and even lectured us all in the infamous gum smacking press conference. Mickey couldn’t see that the rebuild needed to happen.
He basically kept doubling down at the blackjack table and what do we have to show for it? We could’ve been well into the rebuild by now. We delayed our chance to be relevant again for a couple of meaningless Dennis Allen led seasons.
And even worse, if Mickey had his way, DA would still be the coach. He still doesn’t get it.

100%. If Mickey would’ve seen what everyone else did, we could realistically be contenders in the next season or two.
Now, because we tried to continue the Brees era without Brees, we essentially need to
1) draft a franchise QB that we hit on
2) nail the next 2-3 drafts
3) suck for the next season or two to purge the bad contracts
And then MAYBE start to look like a contender again by 2028. And for what? So we could be mediocre under Dennis for 3 years and ultimately win nothing of significance?

he publicly didn't want to trash dennis. and yes, we had 99 problems the past couple years and a lot of the issues were not dennis' fault. mickey had sound reasoning for saying the "looking past the results" comment cause dennis did a commendable job at times when he was delt a full deck of cards. The team quit on dennis. part of that is on the players. But dennis also does not have the alpha personality enough to re-rally the troops. I'm pretty confident mickey would have made an offseason move but the firing early was gayle motivated by probably direct voices from players.

No sense pointing out the obvious. It's just going to activate the circle jerk of Saints haters.

Mickey hiring Dennis in the first place was a flashing red sign that he didn’t think our window was shut post Brees. He really thought we could replace Sean with Dennis and Drew with Derek and continue our run. You cannot absolve Mickey of this mess.

we have had the worst injury luck and several positions and unexpected career fallouts the past couple years. not all mickey decisions were 100% but he always tried to give payton and dennis the best chance to win when we were contending teams if healthy.

Bullshite narratives? You mean like you defending our current situation as a franchise and yet defending the man who got us in this mess?

How hard is this to understand? Our chance to win was OVER when Brees left the building. Done. Finished. We gave it a run with Brees at the end and it didn’t work out in a title. It was done post Brees and everyone knew it. Except Mickey.

such flawed bullshite logic. you think payton wanted to spend 2-3 years shitting the bed here and not get every resource possible to win after drew retired? you think the entire post drew brees retiring in 2020 was not collaborative with a 15 year veteran head coach with sean payton in new orleans with mickey?
