4Runner Mechanic?

About to pick up a late 90's 4x4 4Runner to use as a camp/running around town vehicle.
I'd like to bring to a mechanic to have everything checked out and possibly fix whatever is necessary before putting it on the road. Any recommendations on a trustworthy mechanic near the Northshore area?

Northshore meaning Covington/Madeville area?

Perfect! Mine was 4 door, but same otherwise (red). That tailgate is how I still wish it was. My '21 is great, but I miss the old one.

Late 90's is a 3rd gen. If unknown timeline you want to change the timing belt. and it you went that far into it, do water pump/thermostat. Bulletproof driveline. Had to change a couple of position switches on the transfer case for the 4x4 to work. Easy peasy.

Do the timing belt/water pump/accessory belt job like previously stated. “Aircabinman” has a kit on eBay he sells that’s all OEM. ALSO, replace your lower ball joints with only OEM. They’re about 250 for both of them and an easy DIY job. These are known failure points on these trucks and will leave you on the side of the road when they go. Check out “timthetoolman” on YouTube. Lots of info on working on 3rd gen4runners and 1st gen Tacomas with the 3.4

There's a mechanic shop on the bypass east of Goodbee that's been there for years and has a pretty solid track record. I can't recall the name right now, but it's not too far from the VFW post.
