These sports are not so NIL centric.
Football Kelly is at a real disadvantage because NIL had destroyed our recruiting advantage and the SEC has gotten tougher with more parity. On top of that we have had to play a real powerhouse program virtually on the road to start the season.
Our natural position as a football blue blood is about to be re-adjusted downward whether we like it or not. But Kelly is a good enough coach to keep us in the hunt.
In MBB, we have not won much in a while since the 2006 final four. The Wade years were an aberration and now we all know why!
Under normal circumstances we would not go and get a coach from Murray State to LSU and Woodward is a known big game hunter.
However, we were facing down the barrel of 15 level 1 violations in basketball when we had to hire a new head coach and given the circumstances we at least got an up and comer. You have to up his NIL budget and hope the talent level improves. At the same time with each passing year, the buyout down to a smaller and smaller amount. When you pull the trigger you a paying roughly 4-5 million.
The road ahead is tough my friends but we have to travel it.......that is the truth.

This is false & our recruiting advantage is right here in Louisiana. We were probably at more of a disadvantage pre-NIL when Bama & others were buying our players.

Not sure I agree with you. Basketball might be tough, but I expect Football to be back in it next year & obviously doing well in other sports too

the only sport LSU needs to refocus on is basketball. It needs to be moved up in priority. A new arena plus a good coach would help

Those sport’s collectively lose like $15 mil a year

1. We are now not just getting raided by Alabama but by Texas and Texas A&M.
2. We do not have the financial advantages a lot of schools have.

This scorching take is in almost every thread that isn’t football or basketball.
LSU has to compete in these sports and needs to stay relevant on a national stage so we might as well compete in everything we play. People understood the first hundred times you don’t like other programs outside of the big 3.

Out of all those listed sports the only 2 that really matters is Baseball and Women's Basketball. All the other's don't really mean anything. The 2 sports that really should be worried about is Football and Basketball. Those are the 2 major revenue generators. Basketball made money in its peak. Football went unranked and basketball is unranked. So I would give Woodward a C-- right now.
