Why is Trump really cutting the federal workforce?

Around here, prefaces at the beginning of posts started by people who don't think their post will be popular apparently is the new trend, so I'll go ahead and say that I'll probably get a lot of downvotes for this and a lot of people will tell me that I eat boogers and have sex with my mom. But...
The entire civilian (non-military) federal payroll is roughly $300 billion per year, which is less than 5 percent of all government spending...
https://www.brookings.edu/articles/trumps-dramatic-plan-to-cut-the-federal-workforce/
If Doge magically cuts the federal workforce in half, it would shave off about 2-3 percent of federal spending. In the meantime, it'd cause real harm to real Americans and the community they live in. For example there's a giant veterans affairs medical complex a few counties over from here. It's the largest employer in the county. That whole area would be fricked pretty hard if that placewas ever gutted or closed (business owners, service workers, etc.)
Social security is the thing that's really kicking us in the nuts (and Medicare to a lesser extent). But old dusty baby boomers run this county and by far have the most money and most clout, so that ain't happening.
The whole thing seems like window dressing and a lead-in to the tax cut package and the one beautiful bill. "Yeah, Trump's tax cuts would increase the deficit, but that's okay because Elon and DOGE will find all of these savings and it won't matter."
The other narrative about the tax cuts, the "that's okay because the tax cuts will create all kinds of economic growth and everything will be fine" also seems screwy. It's basically a stimulus program for rich people, and I'm still trying to figure out how a stimulus package for rich people is magically going to pump trillions back into the economy.
...In terms of the federal layoffs, if Trump goes too far and fires one too many federal employees and pisses one too many people off, the whole thing could backfire and the honeymoon would be over. The narrative would begin to change, and obsessive and impulsive Honeymoon Over Trump would come out, and that's the version of Trump that freaks so many rational Americans out.

I know quite a few of them. In my experience, the overwhelming majority are harmless dorks who just got a federal job out of college because they liked the benefits and retirement package.

Why do I have to work a job based on market forces yet there's a special group of people that cushy guaranteed federal jobs not connected to the market at all?
You're a commie that wants fake make work jobs. Nobody should be propped up because they want to without any consideration of who pays for it.
I'm tired of paying for mouthbreathers.

Your premise is that Trump is only targeting waste, fraud, and corruption by eliminating unnecessary federal jobs. Of course he's doing that, as well as uncovering massive waste, fraud, and corruption.
Stick around prog shite stain. I hope you still post here once those responsible begin trials in federal court. Your naive if you don't think Bondi is taking notes and preparing investigations.
Lol.... You Marxist think y'all can do some misdirection shite and we the people can't see thru it .
Seriously, try harder girl!

This position is ridiculous. You don't keep asking the taxpayer to pay for someone to do something we don't need them to do. Why...because the city can't survive without paying a large number of their citizens to do something that is not needed? Too bad. Then the city is not economically viable without unnecessarily being subsidized by taxpayers. No. People move all the time. They change jobs all the time. Cities get fricked all the time. We might help them through it along the way (unemployment) but we don't keep employing someone that doesn't need to be employed because that is the way it has always been.

Because Republicans believe a smaller and leaner federal government governs best.
The federal government was never meant to grow to this size and to consume this level of resources. Our founding fathers designed a very limited federal government with limited powers. Core government functions need to be returned to the states and the people.
This is why we are systematically dismantling and downsizing this federal leviathan.

Did you ever get a job where capital formation didn't happen before you were hired?
Man there's so much to go over in your post. You're just doing one step reasoning. This isn't just about government jobs getting eliminated, it's about the ungodly amount of red tape and funding of insane programs that pack the gears of progress w/ sand.

Have you heard about the 360 year-old who is drawing social security?
Have you heard that there could possibly be trillions of dollars unaccounted for at Treasury?
It should be a no-brainer to want to 1) look into this waste & fraud, and 2) clean up all of these government agencies.

This is the same thing people say to defend it as a reason NOT to cut out something. "But it's such a small amount.." 5% adds up quickly when you find that much waste over time. 5% could eventually become 50%.
