Never been a fan of TM irons but every time I have hit a P790, I've been impressed. Here's the 5th gen,

I had 2nd or 3rd generation P790’s; I liked them, but they did have a hot spot in them where I’d get an extra 5-10 yards occasionally.

Yeah these hallow body / strong lofts can be hard to control on carry distances - I’ve moved from the Zx7 to real forged clubs again and it’s been glorious. True lofts. Spin rates are better and a 9 iron is actually a 9 iron / not a juiced up 7 that could fly all over the place distance wise.

I've been a fan of the looks of all the other generations, except these. These take a step back, IMO.
I do like their feel though.

They need to drop a blacked out P790

I just can’t do P790’s. I know they say hotspots are a myth but my stock 7 is about 177-180 and I’ve had a few 7’s carry like 190 with a stock swing. In my opinion there’s similar profiles out there without the risk of flying a green ever so often
