A buddy wants to go play City Park in Nola next weekend. What kind of shape is it in and which course is the better one to play?

Play the south course. It’s a decent course.

South is better. Its newer and maintained for better than the North. Its not the most intriguing design however, not one memorable hole.

Play the South if cost isn’t an issue. The courses aren’t even close to the same. North course is just a cheap muni that isn’t well kept.
South is a really nice course in regards to up keep. It gets a lot of shite for being a boring design, but I always enjoyed it when I played it.

South is nice. North isn’t worth playing Bartholomew is a good option for its price

This always gets repeated and I couldn’t disagree with it more. 13-18 is a great stretch of golf holes. 18 could be a better par 5, but I love it.
Front has some good holes as well.

I think 16 is a great hole with a nice risk reward for the longer hitters.

13 & 14 are tougher back to back holes.
13- Big dogleg left that lengthens the hole considerably if you hit a fade. Too much draw and you are screwed by the trees.
14- long arse par 3 with water all left. Any right to left wind is death. Just hit it in the bunkers right and try to make par.

Just played Bayou Oaks South Course Sat 3/1/25. Have played it numerous times and is decent/good course but is overpriced. 110 dollars when I played. Should be more like 70 dollars. For more than 70 dollars, needs to be better maintained and more perks provided. North course is cheap and last time I played it, it was not in good shape but that was like 2 years ago. Hope this helps.

What is the pace of play on a weekend? I’m in a similar situation as the OP & looking at all of these courses as options.

South is typically fairly slow on the weekends. Sundays are a little bit faster but if you tee off at 9 on a Saturday you’re probably pushing a 5 hour round.

What about that par 5 with the giant oak right in the middle of the fairway - I always had good memories of that one

It’s not in the middle of the fairway

110 is way too much
Normally play weekdays with a hot deal between $50-$60. I think that’s the sweet spot for that course.

Try hitting your 4th shot a little further and to the right next time. There’s plenty of fairway over there

Thanks for the info. Actually better than I was thinking.

Which par 5 are we talking about? 11?
Get it there in 2 or layup to the right. You have to aim at that tree for it to be a problem.
