This article claims that Governor Landry is fighting oil & gas companies and it is hurting Louisiana and President Trump’s energy goals. Is this accurate?

Landry is and is for trial lawyers. If you've ever looked at his past, this would be evident.
LINK
"Glenn Armentor, a prominent Lafayette trial attorney, has long feared that Landry would side with business interests over trial lawyers, and told him so when the two men met for three hours at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse recently.

“He gave me his word that he would be a friend to trial lawyers, and they would be a friend to him,” said Armentor, a major Edwards supporter who has donated to Wilson, but not yet to Landry.

Armentor said Landry argued that trial lawyers would get a better shake from him than from Stephen Waguespack, another Republican gubernatorial candidate who lobbied legislators to make it harder for trial lawyers to file lawsuits during the decade he spent as president of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.

Landry, Armentor added, “has been meeting with trial lawyer groups on a regular basis, saying, ‘I need you guys. You’re effective at campaigning. But you really need me because LABI is a big enemy of trial lawyers.’ We believe that. We need Jeff, and he needs us. It’s a mutual thing.”"

Some of us tried to warn the Landry voters on here and elsewhere back in 2023.

“But Jeff’s THE MAGA candidate!”
“He’s Trump-endorsed.”
“He once held a Drilling = Jobs sign!”

Of the Republicans who ran for Governor in ‘23, Landry is probably the least O&G Industry friendly.

Yes…better than John Bel Edwards (though he sided with Edwards on the Freeport McMoran “settlement), and better than Shawn Wilson, but those are low fricking bars.

I held my nose voting for that guy. We need a DOGE at the state level to fix Louisiana once and for all.

He was in bed with the trial lawyers before you voted for him, and multiple folks posted about it here prior to Election Day.

The fact that the Trump people let this trial attorney c-sucking prostitute anywhere near them is a disgrace and reflects poorly on them, especially Don Jr.

Well…I don’t expect Trump camp to always know all the state politics details in things like this, plus the polls and money showed Landry with a HUGE advantage over the other Republicans in the race.

Problem is the LA GOP endorsed him before the primary, which means all their resources and publicity went to him and shut out any other Republicans, and the one state-wide conservative talk show host, Moon Griffon, whom I generally like, didn’t want to dive much into Landry siding with Edwards on lawsuits against the oil & gas industry. He mentioned it a couple times in 2022, but stayed away during the campaign season.

Those are the kind of folks who needed to help inform voters.

Landry can claim to be a Trump ally, or he can be a friend to the trial attorneys. He can’t do both with any believable amount of credibility.

I didn’t vote for Landry (although I predicted an easy win for him, and was more than willing to vote for him in a runoff against any Dem). I voted for Schroeder.

No matter.

At the end of the day, the state is better off with Landry than the Dem’s Temo version of JBE (Covid dictator that he was).

Jeff is not an unknown figure. They know him and his butt buddies are chomping at the bit to sue Venture Global.

For whatever reason Jr likes him.

Landry is 100% bought and paid for by trial lawyers.

He is also an idiot!

I’ve said it for a year now. Having a coonass run anything will have some wins, ie the 2019 national championship with coach O, or with constitutional carry and some tax wins from Landry, but in the end we will be glad to see them go.

For whatever reason, Louisiana churns out unprincipled, dog shite Republican politicians like no place else.

The typical LA republican won’t hesitate to drop the conservative act if there’s some money to be had. LA will be sucking hind tit in perpetuity I’m afraid; the culture of corruption is too deeply rooted.
