Out of the 16 SEC MBB teams, LSU has the 13th lowest avg. home game attendance this year at 7,929. This number will continue to plummet under McMahon.

For reference:
LSU's last home game under McMahon, vs. #25 Ole Miss: Attendance- 6,980

LSU's final home game under Wade, vs. #25 Alabama: Attendance- 11,237

2025 SEC MBB:

Because of football the SEC as a conference is about to level up into unprecedented status. That means basketball programs will become marquee spots for coaches. The rest of the league is already on top of this and are multiple phases ahead of us getting ready for the jolt. We need to get serious now before we’re left behind for good.

Could we sacrifice one sport to win titles in football/baseball consistently? It wouldn’t be much different than recently, but I’m not sure LSU can pay to be at the top of all sports. What would you do as an AD?

MBB turns a $1+ million profit even during these dark ages. Baseball loses money for the AD, even in NC seasons like 2023.

The smart play is to invest in MBB and turn that $1mil into multiple millions of profit each year.

Cut bait before the program deteriorates worse by moving on from McMahon, and pursue Donovan, Beard, Wade, or McMillan.

The short answer is no, and even if we did, it would have to be a mens sport due to Title IX. Shutting down Men's Tennis isn't going to get us a new baseball stadium, nor can it be funneled to NIL.

Nothing he isn't already doing other than hope my next MBB hire doesn't shite the bed.

He is absolutely killing it revenue wise, which is basically the reason his position even exists in this day and age. As its been stated in the thread, our revenue to previous year was up astronomically. Even the over paying of Mulkey has been a financial win for the University as whole. Same with sinking a lot of revenue into baseball. The exposure alone, while tough to accurately access, has been massive from a Marketing standpoint.

People hating on Woodward is the poster child for throwing the baby out with the bath water.

So going off of 2021, Wade would have us about 8th?

If attendance remained the same as wades last season we would be 8th.

That in and if itself should show that if you have a winning program, the seats will fill up.

Can you find the average for WBB, or even Gymnastics?

Gymnastics, yes, gymnastics outdraws MBB, and the PMAC is gonna be filled to the rafters on Friday night. Can we fit 16,000? 17,000? I'll bet we find out.

The program was still building, and the SEC didn't have 4 of the top 5 teams in the country then either. I'm not saying it would be full every night, but 10-12K every game is still good, when you sell out the big games.

I mean the capacity is 13000ish, that seems like a stretch

Last I checked, 8th is better than 13th, with almost 3,000 more people attending per game, no?

Have you ever been to an lsu gymnastics meet? The lower bowl is closed.

Highest PMAC attendance since renovations is 13,997 in 2015

Gymnastics has a little bit more room to work with because of floor space, etc. I don't know if they can fit thousands more, but they've already had a 13K paid attendance this season and there were plenty of empty seats.

Well, the lack of outrage over another atrocious basketball season should be enough to spell out that there isn’t a ton of interest.
The culture changes when the teams win consistently. There wasn’t much of a baseball culture before skip.
