American Airlines leadership sent a memo to employees outlining the creation of a new "Customer Experience" team that will focus on everything from booking ti in-flight service.

It appears that Delta and United were kicking their butts and they finally waived the white flag.

Just saw an article a couple of days ago where AA is taking out all Economy seats that have entertainment screens in their 737s.

Not sure I believe they’re wanting to produce a premium product.

Entertainment screens are the past not the future. Everyone brings a phone and/or a tablet. Put a usb plug and offer free wireless via starlink and let people do what they want.

AA hasn't had IFE screens on its narrowbody fleet in years.

Airlines are moving towards free wi-fi (Delta/United/etc.) and installing IFE screens. You can't use a laptop or tablet in multiple phases of flight and it takes up most of your tray space. I booked a flight specifically because it has IFE screens a couple of weeks from now.

This is what AA believed. The market has said otherwise, as AA has continued to lose market share.

Personally, I don't enjoy watching movies on my little phone.

People aren’t choosing not to fly American because there’s no screen, they’re choosing not to fly American because it’s a terrible airline.

This is exactly what I would expect a company like American to do. Spend god knows how much money on research to blame their shitty product on IFE while they can’t execute the basics

There is more competition from low-cost carriers, most big carriers have devalued and significantly increased requirements for their loyalty programs and status, and more folks are willing to shop around these days. Obviously, all of those factors affected American more than Delta and United.

This board (like TD in general) is more middle-aged and older posters who have traveled when airline loyalty meant something. When I talk to younger people who travel they are way more likely to fly whoever has the cheapest flight and best times. In 2024 out of MSY I flew Delta and SW the most, but also direct to destinations on United, American, and Alaska.

All that to say I just need American to be decent, which it has been for me.

I take about 100 flights on AA a year. There is really zero value in having in seat screens. You can stream on the flight and use your own device.

The biggest PITA is having Bluetooth headphones and trying to connect (United does have this feature).

Nothing better than holding a tablet in front of your face for five hours! Or have your face doing the BJ pose looking at the phone on your tray table.

They have screen holders and power and the top slides to accommodate an iPad.

American has cancelled several of my flights hours before takeoff and cost me multiple days in Hawaii, a day in Scottsdale, and almost a full day in California. I hate them and will never fly them again if I have a choice

lol why? Not chasing MQD/PQM/PQD/PQS is great. OneWorld Emerald is great.

What is the basis for “sucks dick”?
