Obviously football made the most money with a profit of $52.6 million.
All other sports lost money except….
Men’s Basketball at $1.03 million. This was down from $1.34 million in profit in 2023
Baseball lost $1.9million last year and almost broke even in 2023, but still lost money.
Women’s basketball lost $8.57 million

Abandoning seemingly all concern about men’s basketball is about the stupidest thing a major college athletics program could do.

Good thing we have a ton of money b/c seems silly to lose $8-9M on a single sport.

Mainly because of coaches salary and the payout for making the tournament and winning games is significantly less than the men’s team. If the revenue share from the tv deal was equal then it wouldn’t be as bad of a loss

Wonder how that compares to what schools like Bama, Auburn, Tenn, Florida, etc are doing in MBB?

How does mens basketball make money? I assume tv revenue share from SEC?

Yes. Same reason our Women's team loses money - less TV revenue.

Now, the NCAA just greatly increased the deal with ESPN for all other sports, including WBB, along with greater profits for advancing in the Tournament. It'll be interesting to see if WBB can get closer to breaking even in the next couple of years.

This is pretty routine across all colleges, most lose money in all sports. There are a few outliers but most sports lose money at every college…we are no different

Coaching staff I would guess. 3.264 Million went to KM.

I've been told attendance at the women's games is significantly higher than at the men's games. I'm specifically talking about LSU. Is it the difference in TV revenue the reason the women lose money? Are the tickets cheaper for WBB? Or is tRant wrong about WBB having better attendance than MBB at LSU right now?

Yeah I don’t know, but if we could increase our profit from $1mill to say $4 million. Wouldn’t that be worth the investment?
Especially since everyone else lost money

Tickets are significantly cheaper for WBB. I have 4 lower bowl seats and it was around $1200. I have 4 men’s tix in the 200 level and it was $1600.
You can get 300 level WBB tickets for $75 for the whole season

Of course it's the major reason. Why would you even have to ask this?

Ahh that's probably it. They use AI to fill the seats during women's bball games, and then use AI to make the PMac look empty during men's games. It's all part of ESPNs master plan to push an agenda.
