People who never grew up in the 215 will never understand why we go crazy for football

Look, I’m not saying that Philly is a perfect city by any means. It has a high-crime rate and leans heavily Democratic in politics. But if you view our fanbase from the perspective of outsiders, you’ll never understand why our fans go this crazy for football. I say this as someone who was born and raised in South Philly.
The people in this city are basically indoctrinated into supporting the Eagles from the very moment they take their first baby steps as infants. Football is as big to these people as it is in states like Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. Imagine a city full of 6,000,000 people where 90% of that population are die-hard Eagles fans.
Yeah sure, we’ve got a lot of thugs in our fanbase but so do the likes of the Rams, Giants, Dolphins, and the Cowboys. The trash you see on Broad Street are the poor folks. The wealthier folks in suburbs like Lower Merion Township are much more mild-mannered and friendly.
Now the wops in South Philly? They’re a different story.

Why do they hate Santa Claus?

Yea man literally every city that has a NFL team is passionate about their team, that doesn’t make Philly unique. The city prides itself on being kunts for the sake of being kunts that’s why the rest of the country hates you

Philly fans of all sports are gutter trash thugs.

If you honestly think that we’re nothing but a bunch of thugs, come visit Philly and hang out in the parade. Just don’t wear any kind of spirit wear that resembles an opposing team and the people will be easy to talk to.

I've been to Philly. It was a shithole. Wouldn't go back and Wouldn't recommend it.

This describes Saints fans in Nola to a fricking T and yet we’re known for being hospitable and fun to party with.
Y’all take pride in being yankee assholes. It’s two completely different DNAs.

You're preaching to a message board filled with Atl Brave fans that hate the Phillies, especially after the last three years. And Saint, Cowboy, Falc,etc..fans that envy the Eagles Lurie ownership and Howie's FO. Trashy inner-city Philly thugdom is just the cherry on top that makes for an easy alibi of smears and jabs..
I'm a lifelong Phillies Phanatic. NovaCat fan of Massimino and Wright. And former Flyer and Sixer fan in youth when were ran right. Raiders then Saints then Eagles for NFL. VGK has replaced Flyers..NBA? I couldnt give a sh!t about any of them..a fan of where my Futures dough rides. Blitzer/Harris ownership, and Maxey, have me intrigued to possibly believe again in the Sixers one day soon? Lost hope after Pat Williams and Billy Cunningham era.

Second sentence kinda negates the first one

You are on a SEC message Board clown

“Spirit wear?” Is that an actual term used in the north? Genuinely curious as I have never heard that term used.
Also, trying to justify the idiocy of Philly crappy mentality and behavior by saying, “we’re raised to be diehard fans” is pathetically weak. As others have already pointed out, most of us on this board were indoctrinated into our respective fanbases. While we absolutely give each other a hard time and talk smack, it doesn’t, usually, devolve into criminal behavior.

Not sure there is a worse combo than a Philly fan and a gay Tosu fan.
I mean the lakers cowboys Yankees bama fan is bad but Tosu plus Philly is horrendous from a posting perspective. Bama at least has like half their fans that are decent posters

Kinda defeating your own point here. It should not be like crossing No Man's Land in WW1 to go to a game as an opposing fan. It's not that serious.

Penn State fans are pretty bad as well. I’ve been to Happy Valley as a neutral and saw firsthand how bad they can be. They’re just assholes that don’t understand or know how to engage in friendly banter or a good natured ribbing.
