So, Ford will probably redshirt, right?

With Scott coming back, and what I think will be the emergence of Ridley, I'd hate to waste a year with him being the 5th TB. But I've never seen him play, either. Can he walk on campus and beat out Keiland, Ridley, and Murphy?

Unless 2/3 of scott, ridley or williams get hurt there is no reason for ford to play this year.

unless they think he could be a special teams monster, yes
we get pretty thin at RB in 2010 when Scott and KW leave
if Ford were to play this coming season and blow his knee out playing special teams that would suck to enter 2010 with Murphy, Ridley and a nicked-up Ford.. we obviously are counting on guys like Lache in 2010 class

Some people are fans of more than one program. What's wrong with that?

I bet Murphy gets moved to slot receiver..TT/RR/Benton/Peterson are big receivers that do well on the outside, look for Murphy to be the Doucet type of slot guy..just 2 years late IMO

+1. He always reminded me a little of Reed.

I actually like this idea, assuming he has some pretty good hands.

his athleticism needs to be used somewhere else ..he just runs with too high of a center of gravity to be a RB in this conference
kick return, kickoff coverage team, punt return, slot WR... something ...probably too late to convert him to Safety, especially with our depth there
he is a great athlete when he breaks into the open field and he has great hands.. maybe slot is where his home is if he could learn the position and route running... he'd be a good blocker and sure handed

it would not be a wasted year ... because ... if Ford is good ... he will not be at LSU for 5 years anyway

That statement is oozing with fail.

I hope he redshirts, to give him at least 3 years after next year, and because that means the rest of our older RBs are healthy and getting the job done.

if that's the best you have ... you're better off "hidden"

He could make a great impact like Bama's Ingram

Ford will play. Redshirting him would be a waste. How much he will play I don't know, but he is in SEC shape right now and has the kind of game that sometimes translates very well to the next level. His field vision, change of direction, and acceleration are exceptional. He will be drug down from behind by the fastest SEC dbs, but very few aren't. The guy has the potential to live in the opponents backfield. Ford easily should be a 5 star and in my opinion there is no doubt that he is at least a top 10 player nationally. His very early commitment to LSU hurt his status. Put it this way. If he were an Alabama commit he would be the top RB on Rivals and in the conversation when you talk about the no. 1 ranked player. His open field speed (about 4.5) would probably keep him down to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th ranked player, but he is that good. And yes, I've seen him in person. The game I saw was against a decent playoff team. He carried the ball about 35 times (typical) and had about 450 yards (typical). Every single carry except for two or three where he was wrapped up as he was getting the handoff were highlight film calibre. Any single game he played in has all you need for a complete highlight film.
