I remember catching his last show - it was pretty unusual for me to be able to listen to him live but that day I happened to be driving home from the airport and sat in my car in the driveway listening to his show. I thought “wow, he’s been out a lot lately and I’m lucky I got him live.”

Actually called into his show once as a teenager. Dad always listened to him in the car and I went through the “I hate this” phase but as an adult I tried to listen or read each of his shows. Dad had died years earlier and I always wanted to talk to dad about what I heard.

C’est la vie.

I started listening to Rush while in college at LSU. This was during my young liberal years when I swore I was Democrat and that was the only way forward. I was convinced republicans were out for themselves and only themselves. I drank the kookaid.

Then Obama was elected. I skipped the first two classes of the day to sit in my car in the small lot near Mr. Gatti’s to listen to Rush meltdown over Obama being elected. I was so excited to hear him bitch and moan.

The shock of my life happened in my car that morning. Rush made sense, a LOT of sense. I was shaken to my core . I walked away still a democrat but now I was open-minded and the seeds of doubt had been planted in my head. Less than 12 months later I changed my registration and haven’t voted for a single democrat for any office since.

I’m a conservative today because of Rush’s post Obama election rant.

We wouldn't be here without him. He was a key domino that set a billion in motion.
