Doesn’t make sense that UConn, Texas, and notre dame ahead of us

Hell, The usc Trojans lost to an unranked team yesterday and dropped only to 7 with 2 losses

& they still have 7th best odds (+3000) to win it all.

Maybe they’re actually ranking the best teams accordingly & not the teams with the best record

Welcome to the “Mulkey effect” at LSU unfortunately from the media.

Don't want to be a devil's advocate here, but I agree with where we are at. We have played 4 top 25 teams and have a 3-1 record (W vs #14 NC St, W vs #19 Tenn, L vs #2 USC, and W vs #15 OU). Looking at the three two-loss teams above us, UCONN has a very similar resume as us playing five top 25 teams with their two loses coming against #7 USC and #3 Notre Dame. Texas has wins over #16 Mayland (#8 at the time) by 38 and wins over Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, and West Virginia, all top 25 teams. Their two losses were to the Gamecocks and ND. Finally, ND has wins over Southern Cal (#7) , Texas (#4), UConn (#5), North Carolina (#13), and Georgia Tech (#17). The teams above us objectively played a harder out of conference schedule. We can argue whether that matters or not, but KM does not believe that it does. The downside of that OOC schedule is that you don't necessarily get as much respect in the rankings. But all that matters is how you do in the tourney, and I'll trust Kim on that one

I don't mind it. Play in the shadows while winning and then show up come tournament time.

There are basically 8 teams then a gap. How you rank the top 8 really is subjective, because although some of them have played each other, they will all match up differently against each other. I honestly don't think that there is a team that would beat all of the others nor is there one that would lose to all of the others.

Gotcha

I was looking at losses instead of wins

Makes more sense now

Kim has repeatedly said Top 10 ranking doesn't matter that much to her as getting in the NCAA Tournanent in Top 4 seeding and have home field advantage at PMAC in first 2 rounds. After that, all top seeds around the country will play similar tougher teams.

Slid point. But it’s subjective as it gets. That being the case, why recognize wins and losses? Hell why even keep score? Just name a champ and move on to the next sport.

UConn has only played 3 ranked teams. Look at the rankings now. They are 1-2 against ranked teams and LSU is 4-1. I agree with all of those except UConn

That's fair. I would say that the two are a toss up and that you could flip flop either of them. I think recency bias is what is keeping uconn above LSU. We flipped spots after the USC game. UConn hasn't lost since Dec 21, even though they have a weaker conference schedule.

I just checked the NET. We are ranked #9. Carolina has played 11 quad-1 teams and we have played 5. Our OOC schedule hurts us in these rankings. We not only did not play any top OOC teams but we played some of the worst teams in the country.

Our schedule is what Kim wants it to be. Like all other Tiger fans, I will trust Kim to do what is best for LSUWBB.

They were ranked behind a one loss team when LSU was undefeated, and the one loss team beat us.

There are only 7 games left then tournament.

We will see how accurate the rankings are then.

I saw the last few minutes of Texas vs Miss. State and Texas was fortunate to pull out a last minute win. Down with 3 minutes to go. LSU just beat State by what, 14? I know it’s not always easy to compare the wins but some teams always benefit more than others in these subjective rankings.

I don’t have a problem with #6, and at this point, it really doesn’t matter.

It seems like there are about 5 teams that are contenders based on current odds. I’m sure it will all depend on how the bracket shapes up.

SC the favorite
UConn, USC, ND, & UCLA all about +500

Then Texas & LSU
