Under tGeneral, men's basketball was profitable. Under CMM, it's bankrupt.

That can’t include TV and SEC revenue sharing. College basketball is the 2nd most profitable sport for football dominant schools and 1st for every other school.

Yeah that’s not including TV and SEC revenue. There is no way MBB only brought in 2.5mm and baseball brought in 4mm. That has to be just ticket and concession revenue.

WBB lost $1.2 mill more than MBB. I'm assuming we should fire Mulkey also?

I did a quick search and MSU was dead last in the SEC in 2023 for MBB revenue at 9mm. LSU was 12th at ~12mm.

I think you have some bad information.

Here is what I found.

quote:

LSU’s profits The LSU Tigers’ athletic department profited $1,365,981 during FY2023. In comparison, it raked in $6.5 million in profits during FY2022.

Overall, in FY2023, the football team at LSU made $54.1 million in profits and the men’s basketball team profited $1.3 million. However – baseball, gymnastics and women’s basketball didn’t turn a profit; baseball lost $66K, gymnastics lost $2.4 million and women’s basketball lost a staggering $7.8 million.

Apples to oranges. Let's compare pears to pears okay.

McMahon is paid about $2.9 million a year.

Wade was paid about $2.5 million a year.

We are paying significantly more (considering actual results). What a downgrade that is.

That is still mostly Wade, the reports are through June of the year listed so the 21-22 Basketball season.

That McMahon's first year, 22-23. I doubt the next two will be any better. I suspect maybe 22-23 will be the best performance of his tenure but who knows? Some of the 23-24 reports seem to be out but not all. Only time will tell.

Those reports attribute tv revenues, conference money, etc. to “Administration”.
It says our administration turned a 51 million plus dollar profit.

You know athletic dept. administration doesn’t make money unless you let an accountant cook the books.

We can quibble about the numbers in terms of what is included and not included but one thing is certain, the decision to fire WW and jettison that beautiful and highly ranked recruiting class he had coming in for the current coaching staff was and is a debacle.

That you started a thread with incorrect info to prove your false narrative, but you did unknowingly bring up a good point of women’s basketball making even less money than MBB

What we don’t know is what the tenor of the conversations behind closed doors with NCAA were. I was under the impression there wasn’t much choice.

Does that budget include NIL paid to players? I know it doesn’t but that is also worth comparing. What is the expense of each of the MBB rosters in the SEC. I know Arkansas is about $7mil. We are about $1.5mil. What’s everyone else?

Even if it doesn't include TV revenue it's still pathetic no?

Probably, but even then tGeneral wasn’t making a profit during his entire 5 years here

Even with accurate numbers I don’t think this proves what Gumbopot wanted to prove

MM needs to rise or fall based on his record.
The financial numbers aren’t really a big factor.

Last year was good, this year had been a big failure to date, His record and his roster are hard to defend.

I’m not saying it’s good. We’re wasting tons of potential not pursuing a more successful basketball program. MBB has huge money making potential. Most schools fund their entire athletic department from MBB.

We support WBB, but in all honesty, WBB just sets money on fire, it has no chance to be in the black.
