If this one isn’t rated r and instead is a paint by numbers blumhouse thriller, I’m out.

Universal has declined so much in the past 10-15 years it’s insane. They were arguably one of the best production companies in the 2000s and put out so many classics that had spectacular screenwriting, character development, etc. Now they’ve lost that luster.

I didn't see the first one, but she looks awful in that trailer. Doesn't even look like a robot.

THAT is a teaser trailer.

It seems like every other "teaser" these days is a 3 minute montage of all of the most exciting/funny scenes from an upcoming film. You just have to put them in the right order to have seen the entire movie.

They still give us the sexy, pre-teen dance moves, which is more than a little weird.

Well ok then. Maybe that's what they're going for. It just looks to me like they want her to look like a robot, like intentionally tried to make her look "fake," and somehow failed.

Yeah, that's what I don't get. It was weird and creepy in the first trailer, and it's just as bad now. It would be different if it was Megan Fox in that weird AI movie she was in, but this girl/robot is legit supposed to be like a 9 year old. So the "sexy" type dancing and writhing is just weird as frick.

I guess maybe they are trying to make the audience feel discomfort? But even if that is the reason there are other ways to do that.

For whatever reason, I didn't hate it. Generally not a fan of the possessed doll, horror genre, but this one worked. Basically a tongue in cheek of a whole lotta different tropes, done well enough to make the movie enjoyable.

The sequel feels like it's been cranked out fast, but then the 1st movie was so low budget, and did relatively well(?), there's no reason to drag it out for a follow up.

And did anyone even see Subservience? There seems to be some similar beats between the 2, though "M3GAN" isn't targeted towards the adult audience in THAT way. But who knows.

I thought it was great.

Nobody does off-the-rails white lady like Allison Williams.

The movie itself didn't take itself too seriously, either, which is what I enjoyed most about it.

I find that successful horror movies lately have just been getting a two-year turn around for a sequel. I know this holiday season Eli Roth is putting out Thanksgiving 2 and the first one just came out in 2023
