Per AB
Im not even upset AT the trade. But its HOW dallas did it. They didnt even TRY to get maximum return.

Every down trodden organization in every sport should look down at the Dallas Mavericks organization and laugh….at least we aint them.

I can't believe Mavs ownership signed off on this trade. I'm still in shock they got 1 first round pick

This looks to me like "malicious compliance" with ownership's mandate.
Ownership probably told Nico - unlike how Cuban ran things - "we aren't going above any amount which forces us to pay luxury tax". And also, they probably told him that they weren't giving Luka a supermax contract.
Nico "complies" with ownership's directive by talking to only one team - one where he has friends - makes a "deal", then tells ownership, "this is the best I could do" (probably brings up how Luka's "always out of shape at the start of the season", his injury history, how no team wants someone who racks up technical fouls like he does), and they buy off on it since it dumps his salary (plus a couple of other bench scrubs in Morris and Kleber).

Luka was 230lbs his rookie year, he's over 270 now and he's only 25.
Nobody is giving $350 million to a guy who pounds Beers....Luka isn't Larry Bird running the Stadium steps while the opposing team warms-up pregame to intimidate them.

It is a pretty big red flag on the weight. I just don't understand how you gain that much weight when you play basketball everyday. Do you understand how much food he has to be eating/drinking

You seen that video of Luka holding a beer in the frickin' Stadium hallway giving an interview after a game and his teammate comes and takes it from him shaking his head and Luka then frowns and shakes his head, looking bewildered and frustrated.
As Chuck said, only the Mavericks know Luka.
Nothing happens without a reason.

Zero drive and winners mentality
People talk about Lebron struggling in the Jordan and Kobe eras becuase he’s soft. Luka would’ve been eaten alive in that era and even the Lebron heat: Duncan spurs/ dirk mavs era
Dirk had that German work ethic but Luka is a 25 year old frat boy who has talent but thinks he’s still in college and acts accordingly

Idk how anyone can say this after last year’s playoffs. He completely carried the Mavs and had so many clutch moments.

Smart move for the nba and lakers. Gonna be a ton of little fat white kids wearing Luka lakers jerseys.

It's almost like they traded Luka because they didn’t want to give him a SuperMax deal. And, at the same time, f*ck him over because (from what I’ve read) he’s ineligible for a Supermax contract in L.A If what I read is correct, this will cost Luka over $100 million over the next five years. they must really have f*cking hated him.
