Thought this snippet was funny:

quote:

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave representatives of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency full access to the federal payment system late on Friday, according to three people familiar with the change, handing Elon Musk and the team he is leading a powerful tool to monitor and potentially limit government spending.
The new authority follows a standoff this week with a top Treasury official who had resisted allowing Mr. Musk’s lieutenants into the department’s payment system, which sends out money on behalf of the entire federal government. The official, a career civil servant named David Lebryk, was put on leave and then suddenly retired on Friday after the dispute, according to people familiar with his exit.

Dept of Treasury Bio Page

This Lebryk is exactly the kind of D.C. perma-swamp parasitocrat I've waited years to see shoved out. Harvard College, post-grad included, overpaid do-nothings. DOGE has a lot of work to do.

So the richest person in the world that is unelected has access to the treasury keys and people are ok with this?

Plus conflicts of interest with his businesses as a major federal beneficiary. Not sure why Elon is trusted to this degree.

I have significantly more trust in Elon having access to the treasury keys, than I do in the actual Treasury having access.

1) Do you think Elon is logging in and looking at entries?
2) Do you think people who haven’t passed security clearances are doing this?
3) Are you retarded?

Trump was very open that he was going to bring in Musk to ruthlessly impose efficiency on the government. And he won. So I'd guess people are ok with it.

If the bureaucrats in DC thought this meant there would be some more blue ribbon study committees, lots of talk, and the bureaucracy would keep on running things with only limited input from the elected President, as it has done for 50 years, that's on them.

Who has more incentive to abuse the system? The $250k treasury guy or the richest guy in the world?

We’ve tried it your way for the last 50 years. To say it’s not working is an understatement.

Why do journos write this way? There's nothing "so-called" about it. That's the name. Newly created? Yes. Say that.

Is that their official designation? Really? Or did 'brown-shirts' not pass the editor's approval?

Are you pretending Soros hasn’t been driving Democrat policy and spending? Because that would be dumber than your original dumbass post.

And for good reason. While Soros is funding DEI politicians and DAs, letting violent criminals out, Musk has been inventing and producing societal changing high tech & creating jobs.

You view each as basically on par with each other, I bet.
