My son played basketball for another school in the previous decade and I can tell you that Danny is universally respected in coaching circles and by the knowledgable people in other fanbases. He is a great coach and a great guy. He is also married to my cousin so my opinion may be a little biased.

Nah, I agree. I’ve played against his teams many times when I was in HS. Played for his brother at Nicholls. He is a great coach and even better person.

I've played against him as a player, I've coached against him as a coach, and I've had opportunities to hang out with him. And in almost every instance, lost to him. He is a fantastic coach, and person, as others have already said.

I she still the coach there? He was coaching there when I was in high school a loooong time ago. He's been really successful, did he ever get a shot at a college gig?

His brother is also an excellent coach. Probably a good dude himself but I have never met him and don't know much about him other than he was a very good coach at Nichols for at least a little while (I really didn't keep up with that).

I think he got the head job a year or two after the school opened in 83. Was the assistant before

Love Coach Danny. Played for him. Did some volunteering for him. Took his drivers ed class lol.
Coach Danny learned to dribble on gravel in Mamou and he won’t let you forget it.

Grew up going to his basketball camps at NVHS. My mom went to high school with him. I played against his teams all four years of high school and he always went out his way to reach out and continue coaching me remembering me from his youth camps. Congratulations Coach.

His brother was a recruiter for State Farm for a few years after he finished coaching. Had a few of those conversations with him but he’s now retired from that

Coach Danny was selected McDonald’s HC, and he chose to select his two assistants Wes Cortese and Ryan Welty
Officially Coach Danny is currently #7 in all time career wins with 1114 at the end of 2023
NFHS Record Book
he is in year 43, but only 65 years old
he has a legitimate chance to be the All Time HS Boys Career wins leader
Broussard needed 216 wins to tie the record at the start of 2024/25
STM is currently 22-4, so unofficially Broussard needs 194 wins to tie the record
Charles Smith at Peabody Magnet of Alexandria LA is ahead of Broussard on the LA state and national lists, but Smith is 10 years older than Broussard
peabody is 23-4 right now so Smith sits at 1231 wins to Broussard’s 1136
