In my opinion, Stafford is extremely overrated. He is not worth a first round pick that many teams are probably willing to use on him, and he is no where near the talent that is Colt Mccoy, Sam Bradford, and Mark Sanchez. I've watched him play several times, and I don't feel he is NFL material. What say you?

The NFL drafts off of potential and no other college QB has the potential Stafford has. I really don't know if he'll be good or not. His decisionmaking has to get better

They will love him after the combine, his measureables will be great.

AS mentioned above, his "mental" game or his decision-making ability does seem to leave a lot to be desired....and this is probably the most important part of the NFL game

He seems to be really inconsistent to me.

yep. that too....

He's a vig strong guy with a serious arm, but as a QB I'm just not sure if I'd trust him with the ball in the NFL just yet

he has the best measurables. as far as his decision making it does need to improve. But, he has had to work much more in a dirty/dangerous pocket than guys like Sanchez, Bradford, etc.

ditto

I figured 19 INTs in the ACC was a recipe for a bust

stafford has shown flashes of brilliance. He's got a cannon arm and good size. As mentioned above, consistent accuracy/decision making is the key with him.

He reminds me a lot of JaMarcus, and I think your description is dead-on for both of them. Lots of potential, but mediocre decision-making ability. I do think that Russell was a more accurate passer, though.

looks like bad decision making in college doesn't always lead to bad DM in the NFL

good god dude...he might not be the best NFL qb of all time or even make a probowl but to say he is not nfl material is just fricking retarded. The dude has about as prototypical measurables as you can have in terms of size, mechanics, and arm strength at this stage of development. He might not be the best decision maker and that's fine. There are some REALLY CRAPPY nfl qbs out there. Stafford will start for 10+ years IMO. Remember UGA didnt exactly have a stable of receivers and they went for the deep pass alot which brought his completion % down.

ETA...if you put stafford in UT or OU's systems against those defenses he would have put up much bigger numbers. The dude has been through some wars against lots of NFL caliber defensive players.

He also has decent mobility for his size.

i think he's got great potential to be good, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. a lot of drops came at uga from firing too hard to his receivers and the often deep ball. hope he pans out.

i'd take stafford over bradford...until proven otherwise, bradford = system qb
