Bought the annual bag of oysters this morning. Nice sized, easy shuck shells and they are salty. 80bucks for a boat sack, about 10-12 dozen

Its a fine weekend , standing at the fish cleaning stand, shucking and slurping with a handle of Evin Williams.

Hope he's stocked up on toilet paper.
That sounds like an explosion waiting to happen.

I don’t know where I picked up the rule but I never eat oysters with brown water.

I’m jealous. I love the evil Williams and coke or sprite or ginger, but it’s Evan Williams fwiw.

I agree not my favorite choice with oysters but EW at the camp and some oysters is not wrong either.

Way. back in the 1960's, my uncles in Donaldsonville swore that drinking whiskey would turn raw oysters to rocks.

Grew up eating those and miss them terribly. My best friend’s family was in the biz for generations but sold out when there was no one left to take over.

25 years ago (Pre-Ike when the beds in that area were on fire) I was working sales for a coating and lining company. Landed a project to install epoxy flooring at the Jeri's facility at Smith Point on Galveston Bay. When we wrapped up the install, the production manager gave me 5-6 dozen hand selected oysters that filled a sack.

Might be some nostalgia talking, but they were the best oysters I have ever eaten. I need to drive down to Port A and test my memory.

I made seafood gumbo this Christmas in Corpus for my in-laws (they live in CC) and I drove to Port Aransas to get my fixings. I got crab legs for stock, shrimp, small scallops, smoked sausage, and some of the best damn oysters I’ve ever eaten. These bad boys were huge and perfectly salty.

As someone that has bought sacks of oysters right off the boats in Delacroix and Shell Beach, I was hoping to get the goods in Port Aransas and they brought the heat.

ETA: pic of gumbo, although I didn’t dump all the oysters in the gumbo, but rather added to a hot bowl for those that wanted.

ETA: MIL had taken some oyster pics.

It ain’t just you. I’ve been eating oysters my whole life. They were the best I’ve ever had. See my post above from Christmas gumbo.
